I was just about to open up a paypal account when i looked down and saw 2 web sites tittled PAYPALSUCKS.COM AND PAYPALWARNING.COM Both warn of paypal irregularites shutting down accounts, freezing accounts, taken money out of your account when their not meant to. These 2 sites also recomend opening up a REAL MERCHANT ACCOUNT which i've never heard of. Now i'm not to sure what to do open an account or not??????? Has any 1 had any prob with PAYPAL and has any 1 hear of a REAL MERCHANT ACCOUNT?????????

I have been using paypal for the last 6 years and didn't have a problem with them yet.I think it was in 2002 that ebay bought out paypal and just before the buy out there were some complains resulting in a lawsuit and some people were refunded their funds for transactions they never carried out themselves. But, since ebay have taken over I have not come across any bad publicity about paypal. As for those sites, well, I might like to take a look at them to know what's there ,but it's easy way to make a site popular by bringing down some other popular website/business.So,I won't like to reach any conclucions until I have gone through content of those sites and seen the supporting evidence.Personally,I have never faced any problems with paypal.

i always like to check things out first before i use them thats why i had a look at these sites.I wouldn't be surprised if it was the owners of the real merchant accounts that started these sites

PayPal is the way to gooooooo. I use it at every merchant that I buy from. An added bonus is that I am earning interest on the balance I have there. Not much interest but hey, it's just sitting there anyways. lol

I think actually using PayPal for money transactions is as safe as any other online transaction but, speaking as someone who has personal experience of having problems with PayPal, they are a nightmare to deal with if something goes wrong! I have a business account with them which has been frozen a couple of times - once to do with Ebay and the other time because they thought I was receiving too much money! Trying to sort things out with them is not easy - most of the time you get an automated response via email and actually getting hold of someone who can deal with things on the telephone is a struggle. I still use them though because if you're doing business online you really have to, but I also use other payment processors too.

i have a paypal account for some time now and so far I haven't encountered any problems on any transaction. I even know some big companies are taking advantage of this service of paypal, this means that they do trust their service. I think these are scams trying to destroy the reputation of paypal.

There is nothing wrong in paypal. It's just your unfortunate hit to the wrong sites which were added by ill hearted people long back. The paypal at present has the largest costomer base in handling online money transaction business. That is why there is every possibility by jealous people to defame the site but it has it's own unbeaten reputation. Don't worry, just communicate to the paypal people about the websites you have found out and they will take the care & neccessary action against them.

I am also not sure if it is safe to open an account at paypal. Thanks for raising this question. Now I can see the opinions from the responses on your discussions.

if you ask me. i will say yes.Paypal is safe unless you do something that violate their Terms.that will be a problem for you.As my advice,if you have a lot of money in it, better withdraw it regularly.don't keep too much money.better watch out if you have too much money at one day..:)

I have a paypal account and it hasn't give me any problem till now.You need to update yourself with the terms and conditions from time to time. There are rules to comply with sites. You don't need a merchant account unless you are selling something. If you need to pay through paypal, just get a regular account will do.Always read the TACs.

I have heard about both these sites and have actually visited them. They do have pertinent claims and Paypal did seem to have some troubles in the beginning, but now they seem to be quite stable. I have not had any issues with Paypal personally, but again I have used it only for paying and not recieving. Cheers! Ram

graham31, i have been using paypal for years and i have never had any problems however, you do get emails of imposter paypal scam spam messages... always make sure that when you put your account info in the url has HTTPS. if it doesnt then just go to paypal.com and then sign in. people who are really stupid try to get people to sign into imposter paypal sites to get their account and password and take their money... be smart and it will be a great asset! petriellog2

Hey it has been exactly five years I have been dealing with them. With them there is absolutoley no problem . Most of gov. like indian govt. have already given there approval to paypal .Its of a legitimate company ebay- which is listed on various stock exchanges . They have also made several aquisitions like www.bazeee.com in india . To repeat I dont see any problem with them . By the way if you dont use paypal you cant earn through mylot. Just go for it. One of there loop holes is that they charge for closing account and not opening account . But atlast its ok! I am not going to close my account anyway . Neither you will! I am sure !

quite frankly, this is the 1st time i am hearing about paypal being a scam... i remember my computer teacher once telling me, if there is anything trustworthy on the internet, then it is paypal.... but i did hear that they freeze accounts sometimes when we misuse our accounts... as long as u dont do anything wrong, then u neednt worry a thing from paypal

I have had no problems with Paypal. I been using it to make payments for auction wins. I am also a seller in eBay and I have had no problems with receiving payments from people that won the auctions on my items. Those people who got their account frozen must have a logical reason. Someone might have hacked their accounts so Paypal freeze it to protect the account owner. The owner probably did not check his emails from Paypal. Paypal is really big company in the US and it is one of the most reliable form of sending and receiving payment. I definitely recommend it. You can check out some screenshot payments to my Paypal account at: http://knighty-night.blogspot.com myLot regulation does not allow me to copy and paste and the direct link to the screenshot section is too long for me to type. Under "Blog Index" search for "Screenshots".

I've heard one bad story from one of my friends, but I've been using Paypal since 2003 and never once have had any problem. I do believe these kinds of things happen, but so far I find Paypal to be quite reliable. They are however quite useless with disputes, but their helpdesk has greatly been improved.

I have used Paypal for about six years and have had no problems with them. However, I have a friend that did lose her money in her account. This doesn't seem to be much of a help for you, but with my experience I could recommend it.

I have used Paypal for years and not had a problem. A Merchant Account is an account that allows you to accept credit card payments. For what I do, stuff like selling on ebay or light selling on a website I can just use PayPal. It is easy to set up and they don't have heavy fees or regulations.

My wife & I have had an account with paypal for years for our business.(www.mariasmagnificentrocksandgems.co on Yahoo so far). We have paid funds out & received funds nationwide so far we have had NO problems although it does take a couple of days to transfer funds from Paypal to your bank. I would recommend looking into the paypal ATM card so you could get your money quicker. Other than that it is a great service & well worth the small fee charged when you GET PAID via paypal. There is of course no fee when YOU are paying someone else.
