Can You Believe A. J. Was Voted Off!!!?

I still can't believe that A. J. was voted off. This is one of the main problems I see with American Idol. The most talented singers don't always win. Not that I think A. J. would have won, but he should still be there. He wasn't even one of my favorites. But, the fact is that he out-sang over half of the people who made it through to the next round. I was in shock when they said that Sanjaya was staying... and he was too! That should tell you something. Even A. J.'s farewell performance was 10 times better than Sanjaya's. And I was a fan of Sanjaya from the beginning! Can you all believe that American Idol is turning into a Popularity Contest?

It is becoming a Popularity Contest than singing contest. I hope they will change their format. I hope 50% of the scores will be from the judges and the other 50% will be from the votes. AJ's performances are good enough to be able to stay.

I agree, I have thought about that as well. They need some way to make it a little more fair. Seems like the teens get star-struck and vote like crazy for someone that they just like, regardless of how they perform.

I can't believe A.J. was vote off either. I was sure that Sanjaha was the one who was going. He has a good voice but it is so weak. A.J. had a very strong performance. Now about your comment about the most talented singers not winning, I beg to differ. In my opinion, everyone who won that particular year, was the most talented. I don't think American Idol is turning into a popularity contest. You have think though, does the person who got booted off really have the total package?

I wasn't really talking about the past. I mean it seems to be beginning. And plus, we have seen winners that weren't awesome in the beginning, who improved as the contest progressed. Who is to say that A.J. might not have improved and been a real contender to win? You just don't know. That's why I think it is important to keep the BEST singers from week to week. That's why I say it is a popularity contest because we have people going home when they had a far better performance than some of those who are staying. I just don't think that is fair.

The only reason I think Sanjaya was saved because he got sympathy votes because Randy and Simon had negative things to say about his hat and singing. AJ should NOT have gone home. This is why it is so important to vote. I vote from my house phone and cell phone. Antonella, forget her, I don't understand why she is still there.

Instead of Jared? Man, what was America thinking? Even Nicholas was way better than Jared last week...

well yeah... i was also shocked when AJ was voted out... he has a great voice (they all do because it's AI anyway.. but he really stands out in terms of vocal and showmanship)... excellent performer... but american idol is american idol... and america is the one who's gonna choose who she wants to stay. but as paula said.. it is a singing competition so i hope people are gonna vote based on who can really sing.
