I love my cats and this is why

My little ones are considered my furry babies. I spoil them, and love them very much. You must really love cats, to own one though. They all have their own little quirks and personalities. You have to accept them, and that they allow you to live in their home. You cannot dominate a cat like a dog. I love my cats because they give me unconditional love constantly. They know when I am sick or down, and stay with me more. At bed time, I call them into the room, and they come in all ready to snuggle up for the night. They fill an empty void in my heart with thier presence and affection. When I come home, they are already at the door, waiting to greet me. My little one talks up a storm. You would think we understood eachother, as we talk back and forth. Both of my "furry babies" are adopted. I have had pre breeds in the past. But, now, I have been adopting ones nobody wants. They really appreicate your home and love, and are so grateful, that they love you more than normally. I groom each daily by brushing them, and I clip their claws. I never would declaw them, as that is inhumane. I also never let my sweeties go outside to get into garbage, or a fight or run over by a car. Why did you get a cat? How do you feel about them?

Margie that is how I feel about my little Dog Gissi he is so affectionate, has personality, is cheeky and mischievous and when I am not well he always knows I am not well. Even the 4 Cats used to know when I was not well. Pets do know and they will try and protect you.

This is true. I love all animals. They have emotions and feelings that a lot of humans do not comprehend. At times, I do wonder who has the bigger heart. Know what I mean?

This is so true. I love my 3 sweeties too. I got 2 of mine from the animal shelter and they were just kittens. Now they are huge. Thats because I spoil them with too many treats. But anyway my other cat came to me one day at my door and she was crying and so skinny long story short I fed her and she is a part of my family now. Your right about them knowing how you feel If Im sad about something or upset they stay with me they do know. Im glad your a good mom to your babies too.

And bless your sweet heart for caring and loving your babies too. Shelters are a great place to save an animal. Too many people do not regard their pets as family members, and just get rid of them. I will never understand how anyone ever got rid of my tortie. She is the most loving creature. Your babies are lucky to have you too my dear.

My cat is like my best friend! He never lets me down. Like yours, he is always at the door to greet me when I come in (maybe because he knows he gets a treat when I come home?), and he follows me around the house all day. He's always in the same room as I am, even though he sleeps most of the time. If he hears me on the phone he'll get nosy and wander in, and he certainly makes an appearance whenever I rattle anything sounding like a dish in the kitchen. He lays on me at night to watch TV, and sleeps under the electric blanket with me at night. This cat is the perfect pet. He set the bar so high that I don't think another pet would ever measure up. You're right, the adopted pets from a shelter seem to "appreciate" a loving home and they give so much love in return. Anyone who loves animals is a friend of mine, Margie!

I really want to own a cat like you. However,my mom doesn't permit me because she worries that cats will bring to her children some illness such as cough or itch, etc. I hope that I could change her mind .

I grew up with cats, so it was normal for me to have cats when I moved out. I have 4 cats and I love each of them as if they were my kids. (I can not have children of my own.) My husband did not grow up with cats, and didn't think much of them until he met me and my cat. Once he learned about the wonders of cats, he's loved them. We wouldn't live without a cat in our house. Dogs are okay, but cats are cleaner and more intelligent. Our cats are all indoor cats, too. They have never been outside, so they don't try to get out, they are perfectly happy being inside. And I don't have to worry about them getting into poison or getting hit by cars. I wish I had tried to groom my cats when they were kittens, because they do not like to be groomed and I think maybe they would like it if I had started when they were little. 3 of my babies were adopted from friends who's cat had kittens. The youngest was found in our backyard, abandoned. I would like a pure-breed cat someday, but it is not very important to me. Alley-breed cats are wonderful. :) I love each of my four babies. I don't know what I would do without them. Carol

Carol, I feel the same. I love all animals, but horses and cats are my favorites. I had a Persian and a Lilac Siamese before. To me, they are all lovable. My two are my children too. They are lucky to have such a good mommy and daddy as you both are.

I had a cat once that was the meanest tom cat around-to other cats. In my arms, he was a baby. He'd actually curl up like a baby in my arms and "pet" my face with his paws. Unfortunately, he was a country cat and loved the outdoors. I did eventually lose him to a car. To this day, I haven't had another.

Well, I have 13 babies (all one family) and I adore them and they are very loyal to me. Mine sleep with me, too, but usually not all of them and I never have to call them because they are always already there and I have to move some over to get into bed. Once I have a house, I'd like to adopt more but right now I have enough. I disagree with you about declawing though. None of mine are declawed but I have a friend who is diabetic and her cats were scratching her so badly that her doctor ordered her to have the cats declawed or give them up. I declawed two of mine years ago and swore I'd never do so again but with this many cats, once I move into a house, I don't want them to ruin my carpets and furniture and they would never be trainable at this point because they are all four years and older. Mine are indoor cats so they will be safe but I also have to think of my own health and with this many cats, I'm constantly getting scratched, sometimes very badly and it could be dangerous at some point so I think if it's a choice between their claws and letting them go, I'd prefer to get rid of the claws. I've been through so much for my babies. I was blackmailed because of them then someone turned me in to Animal Services and ten of them were in a kennel for over a year and now I have them back so I'm not about to let anything separate us again.

Dogs are loving too. I have had them. Each different animal must just be accepted as their are. I'm sure you agree. You just love em all.

I love all animals-- we had two cats years ago- they were strays that showed up on back porch and we took care of them-- when my in laws moved to VT they took them with them- which was good cause our dogs drove them crazy and they were getting old- one lived to be 14 and the other 18 or 19.

I love cats. They are so independent and that is one of the reasons I love them. If they wish to come when you call them they will but sometimes with a attitude. If they are not in the mood you could call them forever and they would just look at you. Like you talking to me. The last cat that I had, which was about a year ago and had to put her to sleep because of her health, had a uniquely her personality. I had never seen a cat act like she did. And I have had cats all my life. You make her mad she would turn her back on you, sit down where you could see her, and flick her tail back and forth and every once in a while she would glance over her shoulder at you. She would not sit on your lap but would lay up against you. Lord forbid you get up to go get something. She would take over where you were sitting and refuse to move. I would laugh and just find someplace else to sit. She hated it when I had the paper and was reading it. I made the mistake of laying it on the floor and stretched out across the floor to read it and the next thing I knew she was laying right across the paper refusing to move. She even stretched herself full length across the paper. When I went to move her she just swated at me. Boy who was boss of the house? Her or me. I love cats and think they are the neatest animal on the planet. But don't get me wrong. I do love dogs too but they come in second.

I hear you. I love all animals. Each is unique in it's own way. I love horses and cats, then dogs. I'm sorry you had to put your cat to sleep. That is so hard to do.

I've got four of them. They graciously permit me to live in "their" house, and are full-time indoor cats-- with the exception of one, who comes outside the sun hilself when I am working in the garden. All four were basically rescues or "turnups." As you said, each has their own set of quirks and habits... from "demanding" to "skittish." I guess I am basically the male equivalent of a "cat lady."

I totally agree with you. We never let our babies out either. We have 3 that were taken in as strays and 1 that we got from a cat shelter. We did declaw their front claws though because we've just gotten our house remodeled. We got our first cat because we wanted company.. then the other 3 were rescues.

I absolutely adore cats and I have always had them as pets. There are, of course, some bad ones out there but for the most part, I just love them. Unfortunately, my soon to be fiancee is highly, highly allergic to them and can't have one in the house, so I guess I probably won't be having another cat...unless it's one of those new $5,000 hypo-allergenic ones they're breeding...but I doubt that. So, instead, I will need to learn to love a little puppy. I guess they're pretty cute too, albeit sort of stinky!

Your cats are part of your family just as mine is part of my family. We never had pets in the house until our daughters left home. The year my youngest daughter left for college, my husband went to a pet shop and purchased me a simease cat for my birthday. I just fell in love with her and she fell in love with me too. She is a one person cat and that person is me. My oldest daughter got me an Eskimo Spitz puppy and he is the dog version of my simease. He just loves me and I do him. I have both my cat and my puppy spoiled rotten. But I would not have it anyother way. My husband took me to the ER the other day. they gave me several injections and put me to sleep. My husband said when he brought me home and put me to bed. The puppy laid on one side of me and my cat on the other side. LOL

I think it's great that people like you are out there. All cats deserve a home as wonderful as the one you're describing. You are truly setting a good example. Kudos.
