Blood sacrifices? Nothing new, it still happens today.

Those who might think that human sacrifice as graphically depicted in Mel Gibson's "Apocalypto" are horrible should be reminded that the entirety of Christianity revolves around a human sacrifice, that of Christ. Violence remains prevalent today as well, with human-ridden suicide car bombs the most dominant treat. I guess humans just like blood too much.

Personally I don't like animal sacrifices either. They are the truly innocent.

are you a vegetarian? if so, fine, I'll respect that opinion. if an animal is well treated, respected, killed quickly and humanely and the remains not wasted then I don't beleive animal sacrifice is necessarily wrong. factory farming is far crueller.

No I'm not talking about killing animals for eating. I'm talking about sacrificing animals for religious purposes.

what if it was both together. it may seem an odd line of discussion, butit's something I was talking about with a friend the other day. I've started a thread on it here. my theory being that if you we to raise and care for animals, kill them humanely as part of a meal prepared to honour the gods, use everything that you can get from the remains, there are some people that would still consider that intrinsically more evil than factory farming an animal for meat, just because it would be animal sacrifice. so just interested in the opinion on animal sacrifice under those sort of circumstances.

Yes Christianity does revolve around human sacrific, look at the terrorist acts that are preformed today in regards to the blood sacrifices, and I do think that humans do like blood a lot and must be blood thirsty just look at some of the movies they have watched over the years.

Why would it be bad to like blood? Liking killing and liking blood are entirely different things. Blood sacrifices in comparison to human sacrifices are fairly okay things. They do not USUALLY kill people..as soon as blood sacrifices kil people they turn into human sacrifices..not blood ones. A technicality, but one that makes a big dfference. Take me, I like blood. I find it both beautiful AND tasty..but that does not mean I go around biting people or insane stuff like that. I also like a good fight, but that doesn't mean I start fights. Technicalities make HUGE differences.
