I have a huge can of Merichino Cherries. They are sooo good to just eat, but i would really like to make them into something. Anyone have any ideas other then chocolate covered cherries?

we really like them in a five cup salad (of course the addition of cherries makes it a six cup salad :) ) 1 cup mini marshmallows 1 cup sour cream 1 cup flaked coconut 1 cup pineapple tidbits or chunks 1 cup mandarin oranges and up to 1 cup maraschino cherries. mix together and refrigerate at least 2 hours delicious! I purchased a gallon jar of cherries myself (it was only $8, how could I pass it up?) I froze them in quart sized jars and apparently they are really good to eat frozen because when I went to get some I found that the kids have been sneaking, tsk tsk tsk. The juice formed a nice slushy.

Maybe a Marshmallow fruit salad. 1 tub of whip cream 1 bag of mini marshmallows 2 cans of crushed pineapple 1 can of fruit cocktail Pour marshmallows in bowl and top with crushed pineapple. DO NOT DRAIN PINEAPPLES. Let it set for several hours or over night. After sitting, stir. Add can of fruit cocktail (it is to be drained first). Stir together. Add Whip Cream and stir. Add Cherries to it, as many as you'd like. Also, you can top with cherries, or add chopped walnuts on top, or even coconut to the top. It's delicious.

here are some recipes for you Brandied Cherries Oh, this is good! Easy and sophisticated. 1/3 lb sweet cherries 1/4 cup sugar 5 tablespoons brandy vanilla ice cream, for 2 servings Cut cherries in half and pit them, working over a bowl to catch the juices. Set aside. In a small heavy saucepan over medium high heat, bring the sugar and 1/4 cup of brandy to boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Continue boiling, without stirring, until the liquid is reduced to about 1/4 cup, about 5 minutes. Add the cherries and their juices to the pan, reduce the heat to medium-low and cook until the cherries are just heated through and slightly softened, about 1 minute. Stir in the remaining 1 tablespoon of brandy and remove from the heat. Set aside for at least 5 minutes to cool slightly and allow the flavors to meld. Spoon the warm cherries and sauce over the ice cream. here is another recipe for you Cherries Jubilee Crisp I don't remember where I got this, but it's a nice little crip dessert and easy to make. FILLING 1 (17 ounce) can pitted bing cherries, undrained 2 tablespoons orange-flavored liqueur or orange juice 2 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch TOPPING 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup quick oats or old fashioned oats 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1/4 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces lightly whipped cream ground nutmeg, if desired FILLING: Combine cherries, liqueur and cornstarch in medium saucepan, mix until dissolved. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture has thickened, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and cool for 10 minutes. TOPPING: Combine flour, sugar, rolled oats and nutmeg in a small bowl. Add butter and mix with fingers or fork until crumbly. Place filling in a 3-4 cup shallow baking dish (or individual baking dishes). Sprinkle topping over fruit. Bake until topping is golden, about 20 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature with whipped cream. Sprinkle with nutmeg. here is another recipe Candied Cherries Needing candied cherries for another recipe, I found this one on the internet at whatscookingamerica.net! Preparation time does not include the 3 hours of standing after the first 20 minutes of cooking. 2 cups granulated sugar 1/2 cup water 1 lb fresh cherries, rinsed, stemmed, pitted 1/2 lemon 1 cup apple juice In a large saucepan, bring sugar & water to boil, then add cherries & lemon half. Reduce heat to low & let simmer about 20 minutes, or until syrup is red & slightly thick. Remove from heat & let stand 2-3 hours or overnight. Strain the cherries, reserving the syrup, & set the cherries aside. Discard lemon half & add apple juice to the syrup. Over medium-high heat, bring syrup to boil & cook 5 minutes. Return cherries to syrup, reduce heat to low & cook slowly until thick & a candy thermometer reads 220 degrees F (or 105 degrees C). Cherries can be stored at least 6 months in the refrigerator. hope you liked it

I love Maraschino Cherries! Hmmm, aside from making chocolate covered cherries you can make fruit salad with a lot of cherries in it. If you know how to bake, you can also make cherry cake or mix it with chocolate batter to make-cherry chocolate cake. Ive also seen several recipes for cherry upside down cake. Im sure your kids will really love them. If you have a couple of extra left, you can mix it with vodka and sprite - have a couple of drinks with your friends or hubby.
