I once worked with the developmenally disabled and at one time I took one of my charges to the local flea market where an anonomous man shoved my charge aside by her head. zI searched for the man for the purpose of confrontng him for his behavior but was unable to find him. What would you have done? I looked for this man because I wanted to tell him how rude and disrespecful his behaviour was but I was unable to find him. What would you have done differently?

How rude is that, I would have hunted him down too. He would have been darn lucky I didn't find him. What is wrong with people that they think they can be so disrespectful to someone just because they are developmentally disabled. I too wotked with this population and have found people treat them like animals sometimes. I was looking at jewelry with one of my friends that has downs syndrome. A woman wanted to see the jewelrey in front of her and whe was looking at charms to buy a gift. The woman looked at her and said "could you go look over there somewhere, this is for people that are buying the jewelry" much like she was shooing away a dog. My friend innocently looked at her and said "I know honey, I know" and kept on looking. I looked at the woman who didn't know I was with her and said "well I guess you better go over there cause she's buying here" The woman stood there stunned for a minute and before she huffed away may friend looked at her and said "Over there, lets go dummie, move it" I loved it it was so funny, of course I did talk to my friend about calling people names even when they are rude isn't nice.

And the worst part of it is that she didn't even get mad! It was like she thought this was the way she was suppose to be treated! Grrrr!!!
