We have the ticket gift certificates to go this summer. We have some concerns as we have not been to NYC much and finding a hotel is proving to be expensive as well as a little overwhelming. However, I have read the book and look forward to seeing the show very much !

Hotels are so expensive in NY. The best Idea I can give you is to try Brooklyn or Jersey City, they are on the subway line and the subways are safe. Good luck

Three times. Twice with the original Cast and once with the first replacements. I also managed to find a video of it online with the original broadway cast and have the cast recording.

I read the book once. I haven't seen the play. And I don't have a CD of the soundtrack. It was a good book...

My daughter discovered this play around Thanksgiving and though it hasn't been performed here in Vegas (at least not that I know of) the soundtrack was all that played in our house for about three months. Even my three year old granddaughter fell in love with the music. At night when we sing to her, she always asks for the alphabet song, I'm a Little Teapot, and Popular. Fortunately for her, my daughter has a beautiful voice and can accommodate her. On the nights when I put her down, she just doesn't believe I can't sing it, after all, if a 3 year old knows all the words, why doesn't gramma? Her other favorite song from the soundtrack is the Happy Song (Defying Gravity.) Anytime I tell her, "I hope you're happy," she bursts into laughter.

Wicked it great, Mama Mia, Hair Spray and Grease She will love them all. Don't forget near 42nd Street there is a place at you can get 1/2 price tickets for that day performance. There is a long line so go early.

My sister gave me tickets to see the show in Boston in April of 2006. We both adored the show and the soundtrack didn't leave my car for weeks after that. It's been imported into itunes on my laptop at home and my computer at work and imported to my ipod so I can listen to the soundtrack whenever the mood strikes.
It's coming back to Boston in the fall of this year and my sister and I purchased tickets to take our mother and aunt and my mother-in-law to see the show in October for a girl's night out on the town! We've given copies of the soundtrack to all three of them so they can familiarize themselves with the music.
I also bought the Grimmerie book from Amazon.com so I can read more about the show and how it was created and read all the lyrics and whatnot about the show. It even talks about how Idina and the makeup artists have perfected getting into her green makeup for each performance. If you don't have the book, you should definitely get it! :-)
