Homeschooling Parents: what are your days like?

Just wondering how other homeschooling families spend their days. Do you stick to a schedule? Do you feel you need X amount of time per subject? And if you do, on days that fall short of how you planned, do you carry it over to the next day so it balances out? Or if you are of the un-schooling variety,do you hope to spend each day doing fun & creative projects- involving glue, clay, paint but not much mess? Are you disappointed when your child just isn't into it or the day's "must get done list" takes you away from what you had hoped to do?

I have been homeschooling my son since he was in third grade. First through 2 grade I used book curriculum through alpha omega and spent alot of time teaching him. We did 1 hour on each subject. but for grades 3-8 his current grade I have used switched in school house curriculum which is outstanding in my oppinion for it relieves me of alot of work. You can read up on it at www.familycow.com with this curriculum I only answer a few questions he may have and I onl7y grade his projects. The curricul does all the lesson planning and grading for me. He has a lot of fun with this schoolwork and only schools now for about 4 hours a day. The rest of the day is ours for fun and volunter work.

That's great that volunteer work is also part of your homeschooling. How old is your son now and what sorts of places do you volunteer?

I HS my 3 kids. I write my own curriculums which has led me to start my own educational company called Rowin' Through Education. I posted a discussion about a geography challenge I have started that will turn into a large geography expo. If anyone is interested...let me know. We love HSing and I can't imagine doing anything else.

Eh, we just have fun. ;) Which is easy to do when your kids are babies. When they're older I plan on mostly unschooling, but arranging the home in an Enki fashion and using th4ir guide books. http://enkieducation.org http://momisteaching.com
