I just read in the newspaper that an online travel magazine has aked their readers what they think are the most beautiful country in the world. Thailand came out on top. Do you think these readers got it right? Is Thailand the most beautiful country in the world?

I'm from Thailand and I have to say that yes there are some beautiful places but what gets me is the pollution and garbage. Tourists like Thailand I think because there are a lot of thigns to see and do but lots of Thai people generally do not care about the environment so much. They litter everywhere and while driving in the country side, you may just suddenly see a heap of rubbish piles but the worst places are probably the big markets in Bangkok. I come from Bangkok myself and I must say that I find it really bad, although now the streets are a bit cleaner than in the past because they've passed a law some years ago that if you litter in the streets you'll get fined, someting like 2,000 bath. It's more like a personal opinion than the truth because Thailand doesn't have any snow and for snow lovers, it is probably not the most beautiful country :) Every country have their own charm.

I don't know if it's the most beautiful, but it is close. I had a great time there. But it is quite polluted in Bangkok and surrounding areas. Even Chiang Mai's air is getting pretty bad.
