Hi, all. Does anyone have a really good and simple to make receipe for soup. Maybe one that even the kids and picky eaters would like? We are all trying to come down with the flu at my house and I am looking for a new twist on a light and good for you supper. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Try chicken soup. You can also add in bits of veggies if you like. It not only helps cure the flu but also enhances your memory.

Chicken soup usually goes over pretty well with both kids. They like me to add carrots and celery, I will have to try to sneak in other veggies they are not so fond of, too! Thanks for the suggestion. :)

I didn't know that chicken soup helped enhance memory. That is interesting! Learn something new everyday. :)

Take frozen or canned corn drained and whip it until smooth in your blender with some milk and a tablespoon of butter. It is easy, and very good.

Corn is one of the few veggies that we can all agree on, but I had never thought of doing that! I will have to try it. That is probably one soup that we can all agree on. Thanks! :)

Thanks for the link. I will bookmark that one! You are lucky not to have to worry about catching the flu! The weather here has been really crazy - hot one day freezing the next, and EVERYONE is sick around here!

Hi mehale, I love soup; homemade, not the storebought kind. The store bought usually has way too much salt or other ingredients that aren't necessarily good for you. I'm sorry you are feeling bad. Home made Chicken Soup has always been our family's cureall. Lots of veggies and you can determine your own salt content. Another great soup recipe is another one of our family favorites. We call it Hamburger Stew. It's cheap and easy and everyone loves it. In a heavy soup pot, fry a pound of ground meat, crumbling it well as you fry it. I add one chopped onion, 2-3 ribs of chopped celery, 2-4 chopped carrots, and 1-2 nice size chopped potatoes. Chop all the veggies pretty much the same size. I add 1 can of stewed tomatoes and 1-2 cans of water. Salt and pepper to taste. Add 1 can of corn and simmer until veggies are tender. (You can add any veggie you have or like. Sometimes I use V-8 juice instead of canned tomatoes. Sometimes I use fresh tomatoes. Just depends on how I feel. If you have any leftover this freezes very well.
