Poem for my grandad

March 4, 2007 1:35pm CST
After reading a thread about poems. It made me think of a poem i wrote for grandad's funeral when i passed away. He never held my hand, Or hugged me before he had to go, before he left the earth that day, and not living anymore. I know he would have if he could, if he new his time to leave, He'd say how much he loved me, and not to weep or greeve. But of course its only natural, to cry over the missed, at least we know he's gone to, heaven's accepted list. We may not see him physically, but we feel him in out heart, out love is everlasting, even though we are far apart. I know you can hear me, Gandad, who we love and miss, I hope you live forever, in peace and perfectness. away from the struggle of life, and stress of everyday, you know we love you very much, and will meet again one day. Have you ever written a poem for a loved one who passed away? Be it for personal expression or for a funeral.

That is a lovely poem Chloe - thanks for sharing it with us here at MyLot. And - no - I have never written a poem for anyone I have to admit - sadly, I am not gifted at all in that way.

thankyou :) im glad you liked it. Poems are really hard to do. I can only do them when they are naturally flowing out of my head, and even them they sometimes sound like nonsense!

A very lovely poem indeed. I always try to hold my grandsosn hands. The oldest (7) is at the stage of boyhood that he doesn't like a man holding his hand. HAHAHAHA. The youngest (5) reaches for my hand more than I reach for his. Did you happen to read my discussion about DAUGHTER? It's a poem I wrote. Check it out. Once again a very nice love filled poem for grandpa. Happy postings from Grandpa Bob (who would hold your hand)Tee hee hee!
