Dressing according to the weather climate or waiting until the Weather Breaks?

The weather is slowly breaking, day by day, but it's in the 30's some days then the next day can go up to the 50's-60's then go back down again... Around where I live, I've seen so many people dress for the weather, if we have a pretty good day high 50's, I see people with tank tops on, shorts, sandals...The next day the weather gets cold and they back to pants, boots etc.. Now the way I'm thinking is that person could catch a cold. I think I'm going to catch or cold, me doing that. But, I see so many people do it and they say they are fine..Some do catch colds, but work on the cold and don't mind it...That amazes me... There is this guy at my job who wears shorts YEAR round...I think I saw him with pants on twice this year and it's gotten really cold here. He will come to work when it's 15 degrees outside. I ask him all the time isn't he cold and he says no...I guess he hasn't caught a cold because his body is use to it, I don't know... So my question to you is, do you dress day to day as the weather climate changes or do you continue to wear your the same clothes until the weather changes where there is more consistency? Why do people do that knowing it's possible they may get sick?

I will continue to wear pants untill I get consistant warm weather. I will wear lighter shirts like t-shirts but I will bring a light jacket with me incase it gets chilly outside. I wouldrather be safe than sorry.

I know that's right, that's the same with me as well...I don't want to catch a cold or get sick because it was sunny..I know the weather person probably isn't as accurate all the time, but it gives me a general idea of the next 7 day forecast... Thank you for responding

Well, what I do is very simple: My clothes are usually appropriate for spring and autumn rather than for the 4 seasons. Out temperatures in Chile are never so extreme, so I can manage very well with a few T-shirts and tank tops, a few pairs of jeans and some tailored suits for spring and summer and in winter, some boots, sweaters and warmer clothes. All that seems fine to me. (Minimum temperatures in winter here are around 0º celsius, and maximum in summer are around 32º celsius).

Well I know in January we had a really mild day and I saw a few people in shorts. It is unusual weather for Ontario so I think these people just wanted to be able to say "I wore shorts in January!!!" I have 2 ski jackets and I never wear them. I overheat so fast that I dress lighter. I have a fleece sweater and so far I've worn it all through the winter. But I have lots of extra meat on my bones so I guess that is good enough insulation for me. I don't know if I buy the theory of catching a cold being in the cold. Not sure cause I know doctors that will debate this and say the only way you get a cold is by passing the germs on to someone else say via a door handle, shopping cart, etc... They say the only reason we get them in the winter is because people are inside and more confined. So I'm not sure what to think on that one.

As I think about it, very true, I guess I'm always hearing you will catch a cold, It's been times I'm outside then come inside and my nose is running or I'm sneezing...Besides being outside and wearing shorts and its 30 degrees, I would think their body tempature would drop and could catch some form of a cold..But I understand what you mean, and yes, I know doctors will debate that theory as well...who knows..lol Thank you me CC for responding...

Where I live, even on our 'warmer' days,it's still to cold to dress down.....snow suits and boots are our garments until we hear the birds sing.....and then, even then it's still to cold to go without at times

I don't consistently change my wardrobe for the next season until the weather is consistently warm/ cold. I am always cold, so it takes a while to bring out the summer stuff. I love the summer, and wish it was like this year round!!

I'm with you, I wish it was year round also, But we know that is just wishful thinking unless we move where there is weather like that..lol...I wait until I see some consistency myself, You never know and I'm not trying to catch a cold...lol
