I keep taking on these $2 keyword article jobs because I need money and haven´t been able to break into big markets yet. Anyone else doing this?

This is interesting. I imagine you are talking about writing for sites like associated content or something. I do write for them or at least I recently started, but not so much because I need the money rather I need the experience and the exposure. I think these articles are stepping stones to bigger things, so I don't let it get me down when they offer less than I might wish for...that being said, I do work full time and the money isn't critical at this time. Good Luck !

The minimum at Associated Content is $3.00, and most articles get more than that. I wouldn't waste my time for $2.00. Take a look at the AC forum. That will give a good idea of how people are doing there.

I can´t get payment on Associated Content since I am not from the US. It´s better to get $2 rather than nothing!

You should try payperpost I've been doing it for about 3 months and I've made around $2000. It's really easy and lucrative if you have a blog. Let me know if you want more info on it.

I would be interested in hearing more about this site. My goal is to eventually be able to just write and support myself, and I will take on any writing job I can get. :-)

I am writing in one site .You can earn ongoing royalities. http://www.wiseorb.com/?A=240 Check this site. There are other sites like.gather.com,Suite101.com(needs to be hired).Digg.com etc. If you're new to freelance writing, the following websites for freelance writers are some of the best. Learn to get started freelance writing, find new writing markets, and network with other writers. 1) All Freelance - http://allfreelance.com/ This site is a great resource for any freelancer. They have articles covering most everything, job boards, message boards, and free portfolio options. 2) Freelance Writing - http://www.freelancewriting.com/ This site is a wealth of information for any new freelance writer. Find jobs, join the discussions in the forums, get a portfolio, or browse their resources and research sections. 3) Freelance Writing Success - http://www.freelancewritingsuccess.com/ This site has lots of articles & resources to help you develop your writing skills and find writers' markets. 4) Worldwide Freelance - http://www.worldwidefreelance.com/ Helpful information on getting started as a freelance writer, including finding markets and learning how to get published. 5) Writers Digest - http://writersdigest.com/ This is one of the most respected and valuable resources for writers. The site is made up of a group of freelance writers, each of whom has a special section of the site. There is a section for freelance writing job leads and another for learning to be a successful writer. They also have a discussion board where you can get to know other freelance writers. 7) Writers Market - http://writersmarket.com/ Writers Market is one of the most valuable resources for freelance writers who want to find for newspapers, magazines, and online publications. This site has the most comprehensive and well-respected list of writing markets. The site charges a fee for membership, but you can sign up for about $3 per month. I recommend the website version to the book, because the online information is updated regularly, so the book is more outdated. 8) Writers Weekly - http://writersweekly.com/ This is a great site for new writers. They post new articles, job leads and markets weekly. They also have a very active forum. 9) Writing Career - http://www.writingcareer.com/ This site offers free career advice on transitioning to a freelance writing career, articles on freelancing and freelance writing book reviews. $2 keyword articles are when a go-between pays you to do a bunch of articles (usually 5-15 a day) using specific keywords a certain number of times. They are usually on subjects you know nothing about and can be hard to write if the keywords are weird and/or the frequency is high. For example, you might have to use the phrase "blue moon dog" fifteen times in a five-hundred word article!

Hi, I would push for at least 6.00-10.00per article--even that is very low, but sometimes you can negotiate. I always tell them that to research/compose/edit and proofread an article takes at least 1-2 hours. What I find laughable is that they want flawless grammar, spelling etc. I've taken these jobs because they help on a resume and help me to write faster; however, as I've said, I turn down anything below 6.00. I think if enough writers refuse to work for those rates, the tide will turn. You might try getting into a situation where you get a monthly revenue share--that way you get paid over and over again. Insist on a contract, though, or you'll get burned. Blogging is another way to make cash for writing and generally it is much easier because of lower word counts. Be aware of any site that asks for bloggers and then wants you to write 500-1000 words. These are thinly disguised articles, not blogs.

I hope it doesn't take you that long to write these articles. I mean, if it takes you an hour then you're only making $2/hr! Don't let people take advantage of you like that.

It really isn't worth the time to write for such low pay. I do get some pretty low bids on articles here and there. But if the money is offered up front, the publisher gets what they pay for. I'm not sending my best work for less than $20.
