Celebrities-are they morally excused

I don't like to judge people for what they do in their lives because not one of us here on earth is perfect. I often look at the happenings of celebrities and their lives and wonder if anyone thinks like I do when it comes to marriages and divorces amongst celebrities. It's like every time a popular actor and actress (regardless of marital status) makes a movie together (Brad and Angelina for instance) they cross the line between work and pleasure. No one is professional anymore or for that matter monogamous. It's like they are saying "hey, I am a celebrity and I can do what I want, when I want, regardless of what is right or wrong, legal or illegal, because I am a celebrity." It's like they think that they are not held to higher standards or morals because of their status. I know that they are human as well and live their lives just as we do (but with more wealth than we have) but some need to step back into reality and realize that what they do on screen can't necessarily be what they do off screen. They should learn how to step out of character after they leave the set and get back to being human beings with some type of self respect and respect for their significant others who have been there for them before they were in the spotlight.

Hiya, I have a theory on this because, like you, it's something I've wondered about also. Celebrities are feted, treated differently from the rest of us, given preferential treatment in many situations and handled very often with kid gloves. They don't have to try too hard, everything is made as easy as possible for them and nothing is impossible. However, as soon as a situation gets complicated or difficult they walk away - why should they do otherwise, they're celebrities after all - they don't have to do anything they don't want to do and they certainly don't want to have to work too hard at anything. Obviously there are exceptions to this and one shouldn't generalise but it seems to be a trait especially with the younger generation of celebs. The rest of us ordinary people work at our relationships and don't jump ship at the first hurdle.

I like your theory. Thanks for sharing. I just get so irked with the cockiness and self righteous act.

I think the only difference between what the celebrities do and what regular people do is only that we hear about celebrities. Their having those affairs and such during films is just like those office romances that regular people get involved in. They happen frequently and are part of being human. Morals and standards are IDEALS but have little basis in what is actually the healthy human behavior that nature has built into us, which to me is the actual reality. They are being the humans they are meant to be.

Thanks. That's another way to look at it. It just irks me sometimes that some of them are so smug and cocky while at the same time act so self-righteous.
