Fiber for weight loss.

I was watching the most interesting Public Broadcast Station program yesterday. A lady was explaining how, by increasing our fiber intake to 35 grams per day, we can gain numerous health benefits. Most people think of fiber as being good for bowel regularity. I was surprised to learn that fiber is beneficial in ridding the body of toxins, helping keep your heart healthy, and losing weight! The speaker showed how increasing fiber actually increases the calories we lose. Have you heard of using fiber for weight loss? Or better yet, have you used fiber for weight loss and been successful?

This is really interesting. It makes perfect sense to me though. We do try to get alot of fiber in our diet. I have never heard that it was good for weight loss though. Thanks for the info

I have heard of benefit of high fiber diet. That's why I always have a very high fiber breakfast like muesli with low fat natural yoghurt... For me my breakfast is very important and with a 2 year old to look after I need something that not only very quick and easy to prepare but actually quite filling and can last me until 12...xx

Fiber speeds your weight loss because it speeds your bowel movements. Most people dont get enough fiber, thats why they make supplements like Metamucil. With more fiber your stools come faster and hold together more.

I'm familiar with that, yes. It makes sense, you eat fiber, you become completely regular, and thus the food you eat is flushed out and not stored for fat. I know we all try to eat more fiber, but if we all got the right amount of fiber in our diets, I imagine all of us would be 10 pounds lighter than we are right now. Oh, how I can dream. : )

Yes! I believe so it does. I've been on a diet for almost 5 dyas now. I take in the nesvita cereal drink whenever I am hungry and so far so good I lost 2lbs in 3 days! Nothing more. I eat fruits, salads once a week, but it's mainly the cereal drink I eat whenever i am hungry. I didn't believe it works, so i tried it.
