Smoking tends to kill the appetite, which makes this activity indirectly responsible for weight loss. Conversely, a lot of people take up eating as a displcement activity when they quit smoking, hence the weight gain. If you want to quit smoking and avoid putting weight on, maybe you should start chewing on toothpicks instead. ;)

The nicotene acts as a stimulate that speeds up the metabolismthat creates weight loss. The problem is it taxes the adrenal glands so it tires them out and kills your metabolism anyway. It also affects the heart function and 90% of all continuing smokers end up on anti-coagulation therapy ( blood thinners)because the speeding up of circulation and then the killing of the circulation gives you the ability to easily develop blood clots.

Thats not correct. Smoking habit decreases intake of food and thus we feel weak and simultaneously loss weight. As you heard smoking has no direct effect on weight loss.

smoking - smoking kills
That is so untrue, my two best friends are fat but they are chain smokers. The only thing smokers will gain when they quit is their health back, we all know that smoking can cause lung cancer and other lung diseases. If people want to stay slim they should choose their food wisely.

When you give up an addiction like smoking, inevitably you want to replace it with something. Since smoking is an oral fixation, often eating takes the place of smoking. The trick is to substitute eating with something else. Chew on flavored sticks (weird, but they exist), try sugar free lillipops, or go beyong anything oral and take a walk every time you get a craving (when possible).

I don't believe smoking has anything to do with weight loss. You have only to look around at the amount of overweight people and quite a lot of them are smokers. I think I would prefer to be a few pounds overweight rather than damgage my health by smoking.

You may end up losing some weight if you start smoking, but you would be very unwise to do it, because smoking causes so many other serious health problems, not only for you but for those around you while you are smoking. There are lots of others ways to lose weight. Please try them instead.
