For all the women out there that have had heart attacks could you please share with me the warning signs you had before during and after. I had a heart attack and although I didn't recognize them as warning signs, I like to help others to be aware. Women are very different than men in this area. I had arms that felt real heavy for about 4 days before, lots of swelling in my feet, which I rarely get and on the morning of I had a shiver on my tongue. Thank You Ladies for your response... Keep Healthy

Severe chest pain, pins and needles down left arm are a couple of signs.

I have never had a heart attack, but am interested in this discussion because my doctor is concerned about the possibility... Anyway, he has told me that many of the symptoms are things that you would never suspect, and would never bother going to seek help for. It seems that he tells me that every time I visit him for any ailment.

I was told the same thing after my heart attack, I was also told men have different symptoms such as pain down one arm which I didn't get. Any other questions feel free.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I guess my doctor doesn't want to tell me exact symptems to watch for because he doesn't want to limit me to specific things to watch for. He would rather that I look for anything out of the ordinary.

My grandmother's face hurt like all get out. Of course, her arm did too, but she thought it had to be something else because her jaw was so painful.

Yes it's odd how different people have different symptoms. Heart disease is a very serious thing...

I've not had one but when I was younger I had gone into the offices at work to drop off some reports and one of the women there that I always spoke to looked awful. I said are you ok? she actually looked grey, I said what a funny colour she was. she then said she didn't feel right, she said her arms and shoulders where aching but the previous day she said she had been shopping and carrying heavy bags and she wondered if that was it. by now the rest of the office where actualy taking notice as I couldn't get over the funny colour she had gone. later they sent her home and it was after that the doctors said that she was having a heart attack while she was at work talking to us. if it ws now i think i would wonder if it was a heart attack but then I was clueless about the symptoms etc and no one thnks that it happens to women.

You are absolutely right a lot of people say that they didn't know women are affected. A women can get a heart atack the same as a man. Here's one for you. My heart attack was in 2001 I had no idea I was sick. My husband had blockages and knew it. He had a stent put in a couple years ago and June 19 he had quadruple bypass and didn't have a heart attack, so one never knows.
