Overzealous Christian Idiots

First off, don't freak out and think I am a Christian hater. I am nothing of the kind. However, this story must be told of the stupidity of the overzealous. I have been attending a parenting class at my church each Wednesday. It has been steadily getting a little more like a nag fest on my individual group teachers' part. However, I let it go. I am here to learn how to be a good parent. I don't need them to do that. Well, the weekend before I was overcome by a severe migraine headache that lasted 3 days. It was so severe that I had to stay in the hospital. My husband wanted every ounce of reassurance he could get so he turned to them for guidance and strength. They told him that I was cursed with a demon and that my home needed to be exorcised. He prayed with me on the third night and I was very quickly healed from the pain. I won't deny that I felt God's presence that I night. I will deny the presence of a demon though. Upon returning to my class, I came to discover that somehow the class found out about my involvement with WICCA many years ago. According to them I had cursed my family and also had a family curse from my mother which caused the migraines. They immediately surrounded me and laid there hands in fervent prayer. I wept because I felt violated, betrayed, and angry. I walked out of that class bewildered in what to do. I went to the nearest open field, got out of my car, and screamed to the Heavens. I got down on my knees and asked God to grant me peace from my anger. I immediately felt better. Since then I have felt the need to tell my story and to caution those against moments like this. This can also corrupt the soul. God forgave me many years ago. He forgives me even now. GOd forgives...period. It is no man's place to say we are cursed.

I would find a new parenting class and a new church. How dare they treat you like that? Who are they to decide that your migraine was a demon? I suffer from migranes myself and it's a physical condition not a demonic one. One of the reasons you get a migraine is stress and it sounds like they are the cause of it not the cure. My goodness, I'm absolutely astounded by your story.

Well, while I would love to move to a new class and a new church we have already established ourselves there and we need to remain there for a bit to make sure our daughter stays in her private school. Besides, I only have to put up with them for a few more class days and then I won't have to worry about them anymore. Besides, these people are just lemmings. They follow the leader and it eventually will lead them to their demise. Granted I feel pity for them but I will not be moved to believe as they do. as for the cause of my migraine, you are right. It was caused by stress but not entirely from them. There were other factors that I let get to me. But thank you for your empathy.

*hugs* Personally, I am sorry that you have to take that from people who are supposed to be there for you and not judge you. T_T I am a Christian too, and I feel saddened whenever I hear of such things. Some people are too.. zealous with their faith, that they forget everything their faith stands for. You are entirely right - God forgives. The moment we ask for forgiveness is the moment God forgives our sins. He himself said it, that though our sins are as red as blood, He will make us as white as snow, until we are again clean and pure. I am happy that you didn't allow that incident to pull you away from God, though. I am happy too, that you turned this negative event into a positive one, by drawing closer to him. God bless you, dear. Have a lovely day. \m/^_^

Thank you for your understanding. I am glad that I do not have to put up with them much longer. I only have a few more class days left. I have been dealing with people like this from all religions and beliefs all my life and I have developed my strength in my faith. God has been there for me and I know he will hear me and answer me when I reach out to him. What it seems like is these individuals feel that they have to get in between that message and be the ones to deliver it. It is a travesty and it is no wonder that so many people stray from the church. It is because of people like them who force God on them.

I belive that e all end up in th eheaven of our choice.
