Seek First To Understand , Then To Be Understood:
Emphatic Listening:seek first to understand
"Seek first to understand" involves a very deep shift in
paradigm.
We typically seek first to be understood. Most people do
not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with
the intent to reply.
Emphatic listening means to listening
with intent to understand.
Seeking first to understand means to really understand.

That is true.. we all longed to be understood, and that's one reason why more people talk than listen, when on fact, one must long to understand first, and be understood second. That's why we're given 2 ears and only one mouth, right? To listen double the amount of talking we do.
We have many kinds of listeners, and only few of us are Emphatic Listeners.
