Homemade mixes are so frugal and are a real treat to keep on hand in the pantry. You will never have to purchase a mix again if you follow the directions in all the mix discussions that I have published. I will continue to purblish mixes if anyone is interested. This is a wonderful scottish shortbread mix. It is a mild yet flavorful shortbread. You can make this mix as a gift in a gift basket or for your personal pantry. Your family will love its buttery flavor. You will love the fact that there are no preservative in it. Hope you enjoy the mix.
Scottish Shortbread Mix
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients, blending well. Store in an airtight container decorated with a pretty ribbon.
Attach this to the Jar:
Scottish Shortbread
Makes 16 pieces
1 cup butter, softened
1 package Scottish Shortbread Mix
Preheat the oven to 300F. Knead the butter into the shortbread mix
and press the mixture firmly into an 8 inch pie plate, or shortbread mold. Bake for 1 hour.
The shortbread should be pale in color, not browned. Cut into wedges while still warm.

Hi! I have tried to make shortbread many times and for some reason, I just can't make it and have it turn out right! I don't know what the deal is! I'll save your recipe, though. Maybe I just haven't run across the right recipe yet. :-)

This is good one to have on hand when you want dinner to be a little more but not with a really sweet ending. Any left over is good for adding to a lunch the next day. Another one to have lining my shelves when I return to my pantry in my house. Thanks for sharing this one today.
