People soliciting donations here at myLot, do you respond to them?

Ive been browsing through some topics and ive discovered some postings that were made by some people soliciting donations! for reasons of poverty that is... and sad to say- i think 1 of them was filipina... i was kind of degraded in a way- i know that being a single mom and living within minimum wage is difficult because i am one! but- it hurts me more to see them begging or asking for money just like that, while the others work their butts off for a decent pay and doesnt even have time to go over the internet to solicit money because theyre busy working... and using this site as a means for it...i think its too much. I know that theyre just probably trying their luck that someone of pure and kind heart will actually help them and give them something, but i see them no different from the people roaming on the streets depending on other people for alms. Maybe im not a nice person, but i just want people earn their living, specially if its my fellow filipina. I want them to have some pride in what they do- and i believe that no matter what race you are, may you be male or female, you have the capability of fixing your life, survive and strive for your family- even if youre alone. i know compasion is not a bad thing, but a little determination and a willingness to improve ones quality of life by not depending on the alms of others isn't bad too right?... What do you feel about this matter? please, points of view here please, am i that evil just because i feel awful that people do go through all these just to solicit money? do you think that this move- soliciting online- should be encouraged?
