I think it all just depends on the person. most of my staf members can't handle it because most of the job involves standing in the sun for many hours watching kids swim. but the pay and knowing that you could be saving someones life is a wonderfull feeling also

I was a lifeguard at a beach in Australia for about three years. It was volunteer work but I enjoyed every second of it! It was sometimes very hectic and sometimes not but there was always something to keep you occupied. The best thing of all is that people respect what you are doing as you are there to watch over everyone and to protect them. If you have an opportunity to pursue something like this, I would say go for it! All day outdoors in the sun, fresh air etc There's got to be worse jobs than that!

Being a lifeguard is very rewarding if you like it. It really is not that hard to do and the experience is wonderfull, and reflect nicely on you resume.
