Spirits, ghosts, and hauntings

I've had many experiences with ghosts, spirits, and hauntings since I was very young. I first began to see spirits when I was 5 or 6. I would see them in the room I shared with my sister, standing in our room. Sometimes I got scared and I would jump out of bed and run to my parents room to tell my dad about them He would tell me that I was just seeing things, and that I should go back to bed and ask God to protect me, and everything would be okay. I would go back and jump under my blankets and pull them over my head and hide. I can remember peeking back over the top of my blankets and still seeing the spirits standing across the room staring at me. These first ones were an older lady in old fashioned clothes, standing with a little girl. Sometimes there was an old man there too, with bib overalls on. They never moved toward me, just stood there and stared at me. As I got older, I had many experiences, and finally when I was about 18 or 19, my mother told me the truth about the 'gift' that I was born with...because she was born with it too...and so was her mother. I've got lots of stories to tell about the ghosts and strange things I'm able to see. I've become so accustomed to seeing them, and feeling them, that they don't bother me anymore. Now that my mother is gone, she visits me often. I believe it's true that we are all capable of seeing spirits or ghosts...and that we are capable of communicating with them...and capable of so much more than that if only we open our minds to it. I would be glad to share some of the many experiences I've had throughout my lifetime...many, many experiences...if you'd like to hear about them. I can also give you some links to lots of helpful information about the spirit world, and what it's really all about. It's not as spooky as you would think it is.

Spirits are just a sign, that your imagination is working overtime. Maybe you have seen too many horror films, dumb cartoons, when you where a child. So, in your dream's you see crazy stuff. Just stay of the TV, video games for sometime and sleep for 8 hours, soon you will stop seeing those spirits. Your, story of your mother having power etc. reminded me of Spiderman. Have you seen the movie Ghostbusters ha ha, if not see it for some laughs. A good try on your part, but sorry i do not believe in spirits.

Well, maybe you read funny books like goosebumps, maybe listened to many ghost stories, etc. and above all you make your imagination fly. My dear friend, Hollywood is the best place for you, i am sure you like Stephen King a lot ..lol. I hope you direct a movie about witches, spirits etc. I like those type of movies and of course serials like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". In this life you have to do justice to your artistic talent, i am your fan already.

Well arnboy, I appreciate your comment. It so happens that I've not seen Spiderman or Ghostbusters; I don't watch TV unless it's the Science or History channel. I get plenty of sleep, thank you....and the last video game I played was an old Atari Pong game. So there went all of those theories. I do appreciate you taking the time though, to attempt to diagnose my 'problem' for me. It was a nice try on your part too. But you are WRONG on all counts. So where is it you think you're going to go from here Mr. Wizard? Won't you be in for a huge surpise when you pass from this life to wherever it is that you 'non-believers' go? I have a feeling you'll be stuck here for awhile first, wondering what the heck happened. But don't worry too much! I'm sure someone will eventually think to call "Ghost Busters" to help you figure out how to get on with 'life'.

Wow, that's really fascinating. You must be more sensitive to receiving that kind of data than most others. I also believe that we are all psychic, especially more so in childhood since we have less "cluttering" our minds in terms of opinions and life expereriences and learned dogma. I can clearly remember seeing a spirit looking in my bedroom window at me when I was about 4 years old. I know I was awake and not dreaming. I am now 38 and still remember it clearly to this day. Your story reminds me of Sylvia Browne, the psychic. I have read many, many of her books and she is wonderful. I just love her. If you haven't read her I highly recommend her works to you. After doing much reading of her and other spiritual/psychic and inspirational authors, I too have little fear of the spiritual world or of dying. I continue to study and try to keep an open mind and enlarge my perspective on what is possible.

Aaahh, LindaLou, I can tell you've done some reading on the subject. You are exactly right in saying that children's minds are less cluttered...but also it has to do with them having so recently 'arrived' here. Their minds have not yet lost the 'connection' that links all of us, and everything around us, together. In the most simple terms, we and everything around us, are made of the same thing....molecules...and as such, everything gives off a 'vibration' from the action of molecules bouncing off of one another... Some people are more sensitive to these 'vibrations'...and children are more sensitive to them because they haven't yet had time to forget the feelings of the energies that surrounded them before they were born. You've read Sylvia's books, so I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. I'm happy to have found some 'kindred spirits' here...

Thank you... It seems to me that people are becoming more and more open to this reality. I look forward to sharing some of my experiences with you as well.

Hi Xombiefly, well its not a question of disagreeing with what you think. You mentioned that your mother believes in these things, maybe she told you couple of stories about ghost, spirits and it somehow got embedded in your mind and eventually you started believing in such paranormal things. I can give you my own example, my mother told me stories about how ghosts come and took children away if they stayed awake for long (it was a tactic used to make me sleep), soon thanks to these ghost stories, i used to feel scared being alone at night, eventually it further manifested into fear of going into a dark room etc. Eventually, as i grew up i gradually got over my fears. The only, thing i feel bad about is why my mother told me such silly stories. In your case also, there could be a trigger for such thought process try to locate what were those words, who told those words, if you happened to read some horror novel/serial, what was that troubled you the most and soon you will be able to solve your problems my dear friend. These days i just laugh whenever, i see any such spooky stuff, a far cry from a scared little kid which i was. It is the age of science, the fact that earth is spherical was prooved scientifically by Galileo, it was the Church which chose not to believe it and punished him. If you think you can proove that such ghosts, spirits etc. exist then proove it scientifically (please do not quote just your experiences), give me facts, reasons, experiments on how you have proof about these paranormal concepts. Till then best of luck, happy hunting in the dark!

Oops! one more thing, is Dean Koontz a thriller writer. If so what type of thriller writer is he. I have seen several of his books, but since i have never tried reading his books i dont know how he writes. I have just finished reading Frederik Forsythe's "The Afghan" and of course Dan Brown's "Da Vinci Code".
