So, tell me, where you live, is it illegal to download music and movies where you live. I mean - through filesharing programs, not paying for what you download? Here in sweden it is illegal, however not much is beeing done about it and I am almost sure that MOST people with a computer does it. We have a site called piratebay that the FBI actually forced the swedish government to close down.. it was closed for about 12 hours, in these 12 hours the "backup" servers were moved to a different location... So how is it in your country?

Yes, this is illegal in the United Kingdom as well. I would have expected it to illegal in every country since it amounts to theft of intellectual property. There have been a lot of ways tried to create a legal equivalent, but this is difficult when you are dealing with copyright material.

I think it is illegal just about everywhere where the country is a member of the international community. That's why I don't do any downloading of these myself. I wouldn't want to run afoul of the law. :(

I actually do download, just because even if u get caught the punishment might be to pay a few bucks, and like i said before, if they would put a small fee for downloading i would still do it!

But is it illegal for you to download from there? Does your country have any laws about it?

yes, downloading files for free is illegal in Romania too. i've heard that in a town police have even started an investigation, controlling every computer that had the ip adress intercepted by them. i don't know whether this will take proportions for a longer period of time than we expect, but it is illegal what we all do... can't help it anyway...it's the easiest way to get what you want, isn't it? :)

well this is a very simple question... first of all..in italy this illegal... 2. do you think in any country it might be legal?!!! come on!!!! i don't think so...because every singer wants to get money buy selling his c.d. on the net or in the shops...so surely they don't want people copy their discs and give them to everyone free... this is the same thing to the flims..a film which someone payed on it...several millions..he will surely want his money back and increased ... so the singers and the producters are protected by the law-...and that is the copyright...!! so even filesharing is illegal...here in italy nearly every young person has this programme..called e-mule that makes you share files...i don't have it;) because i know it's illegal...and i don't wanna risk!!

Yes and no in the United States. Most filesharing sites are now charging a fee so you are paying for what you download. Free file sharing is illegal but it still happens quite a bit. Many people think it is worth the risk, I for one just pay the small fees to do it the legal way.

well if it was justa small fee i am sure more people will do it, but here to download a movie legal you will have to pay almost full prize, wich for a dvd that is reasonably new is about $20-$25

Well, with my living in Denmark we have the same rules and regulations concerning this as in Sweden :) Not legal of course. I remember the whole Piratebay thing being closed down, those guys are some of the best out there, I usually don't hang around on open trackers though, the closed ones are better in my eyes.
