Did you ever have a tree house or a special place as a child?

I remember when I was very young, a friend had a tree house in his back yard and we spent many Summer days in our imaginary world, fighting off wild animals and pirates from the protection of our own little fort. Were you lucky enough to have a tree house in your backyard? Or perhaps you had another special(secret) place where you would hide away and let your imagination run wild.

I always wanted a tree house when I was little but we never had a tree so I guess I didn't have much hope, I did make a dolls house out of a big cardboard box once, that was a s close as I got...:)

my best friend lived next door to me growing up. His dad was a dentist. they got new dentist chairs. So we got the big boxes they came in. We made forts out of them, we made a puppet theatre out of them. It was so much fun. We painted them over and over for each different use.

Not so much as a child but as a younger teen my life was pretty messed up. In the middle of town is this big hill and there's a trail that goes up it. A friend of mine had this place we'd go off the trail to. It was in a ring of trees and it was absolutely beautiful. It was so peaceful and quiet. I spent alot of time there; both with my friend and without her. Over time we had all sorts of stuff there. We could make little fires to heat canned food or cook hotdogs. We brought tarps and sleeping bags and actually camped out a couple times. I've gone back to that town quite a few times and usually stop back there every couple of years just to sit and remember.

Thanks for your comment. That sounds so great. I can almost smell the hotdogs cooking. And you know, I bet they tasted so much better out there. Heck, I wish I had a place like that to go to now.

I never did, but my much younger brother did have one. It was great...even as a teen I got to go up in it a couple of times...mostly I would just look in because I was getting to be too big to fit in it. My escape as a younger kid was the ladder in the garage. I would climb up on it...to the top and sit up there for hours. It was my own private refuge!

heh that sounds fabulous! We had a secret garden like from the book/film. It was this area of land surrounded by houses so it was blocked off to everyone who didnt live in them. But nobody ever went in and me and my freinds would sneak through and only the 4 of us new about and it promised not to tell anyone. It was beautiful, especially when it was full of seeding dandilions so all the seed would be blowing round, it felt very enchanting. We also but up a DIY swing and planted flowers and such good times :)
