Life Mapping

Has anyone here ever done a life map? I am in the process of doing one. It takes a little work because you have to look through magazines to find pictures and words that relate to your goals. Doing a life map consists of getting a piece of bristol board (or poster paper) and gluing on pictures and phrases of what you want to achieve in life, or should I say WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE. If you put that collage in front of you where you can see it every day, you will be more inclined to accomplish said goals. I am going to have to go to the travel agent to get a couple of pamphlets on the places I hope to visit, oops, that I am GOING to visit some day. For my writing/editing I came up with a brilliant idea last night. I called one of my writing buddies who does graphics. I asked her to do a mock-up cover of the novel I am currently working on. She asked me tiny details of the story, the title and how I wanted me name. She did a great job and I will have it staring me in the face every day so that I will be motivated to work on that novel and make that picture become a reality. What about you? Have you made a life map or a life list?

Ihave never made a life map...but I think it's an absolutely great idea...In fact I believe I will start on it this weekend...I have been goal setting lately and this would be such a good incentive and reminder...Best of luck with the novel...I love to read and have so much admiratioin for talented writers...you'll be so motivated you'll get that novel done in no time...I truly want to thank you for posting this...you know everything in life is about timing...and this article is timed perfectly for me!!! I'll share my progress with you as it goes on!!!

All my life I have been trying to decide what I really want to do with whatever is left of my time on earth .. it does sound a good idea if you can think of things to put on the life map .. However, I would probably find only disappointment in having a life map as the years ebb away and I achieve nothing I had thought I might .. probably better for me to let life surprise me .. at least that way I won't be disappointed heheh !! I hope you own goals and ambitions will all one day come true for you ..

Patootie, they can be simple things. One of the pictures I cut out is a smiling mouth. That means I want to be a happier person. Another is a really nice kitchen. I want a kitchen renovation some day. I am still looking for a picture of that perfect home office I want. LOL! Due to our illness our goals are limited - I no longer want to go for a hot air balloon ride. I know it would make me dizzy.

I like this idea. I will do one for myself. I want to be able to focus on what I am going to do with my life and where I am going and what I am doing to get there. Thank you, I really appreciate this idea a lot.

I haven't done this, but what a great idea. I think that would really help keep a person focused.
