Has anyone ever been persuaded to buy a computer because it is cheap or the salesperson assumes you don't need the extra bells or whistles,( them being a faster processor) or he assumes you are just looking for a bargain, use it for just emails, etc. Or to put it another way, have you been pressured into buying a computer not for its practicality and expandability because it was a bargain or the new models are coming in and they have to get rid of the old ones? I have one third less of the cost of this computer I bought in August last year, that does not have what I need because the salesman did not tell the truth about it. Now even though I can upgrade it, it will not have a duo 2 core processor and even with the upgrade it will still be upgrade. Yes, next time, I'll get a Mac.

I didn't really feel pressured to purchase our computers even though I could really use more ram and this particular one has been upgraded, stripped, and upgraded some more - now it just needs to be replaced. We went and found the exact Mac and started the purchase process only to be told there are none in stock. So we asked if they can order one and how long it would take for it to arrive..... they told me they can't order them for me and that I can go online and order it myself !!!???!!!??? They never seem to have them in stock so why would I go to that stores website and order it when I can order it through the apple site for the same price? Sales people are either too pushy or just lazy

I was thinking of going that route. I find that here in Winnipeg, they are rather bargain hunters and will sell you something because it is cheap, not because it is the best.

There's bargain hunters galore in this city but mostly it's people that want the best stuff and the lowest possible price. That way they can show off in front of the friends and family and pretend they can afford much more than they actually can LOL!

Winnipeggers are known as always looking for a bargain. It is gotten so bad, that when you go to a computer store like Future Shop or Best Buy where is someone talking out loud about "we cannot afford that!" and they are looking at the E-machines. I hate what would happen if they were looking at the top of the line.

I would imagine that a lot of people have been sold computers that are difficult to upgrade simply because the salesperson told them otherwise. Fortunately I know exactly what I want, so if I chose to buy a computer rather than build one then I would know what I was buying.

I would have a similar answer to the question as Asylum. Before buying a computer I always seem to spend a whole week researching at whats the best price for what I want that stays in my budget. I would never walk into a computer store and walk out with a computer the same day, I would go online and read some reviews. Hope this helps.

I was in a quandry, I had to get a new computer, I knew what I wanted, but as they said, "it had not been invented yet," so I had to get the one I did, and I did not want a more expensive one with planned obsolescence.

I like my cheaper computer then my newer toshiba satellite laptop..I think the feeling of old is like being near a dear friend.. It doesn't have bells or whistles..but I had it now three years..It's been faithful and true..and that's the best thing about it.

I have to have one that does everything I want it to do. If I were just writing short stories, doing emails, surfing, and myLotting, a cheap laptop would be perfect, but I want one that also does Cds/Dvds and also HD dVDS and blue-ray dvds, wide screen, excellent graphics, etc. Yes I do need the bells and whistles.

Well I prefer to buy a PC thats cheap but still with good performance and technology. I've never been persuaded or forced to buy one simply because it's cheap and new. I usually like to have high performance ones though they're costly because sooner or later there'll be some new model and I don't want my PC getting outdated and a slow poke!

Actually I was saving to buy a really good one but my computer broke down in August 2006 not January of this year and it was having to buy a lesser grade model and besides I had my husband with me and he's the type that "oh don't spend too much." I also was on a budget and did not know if I could afford a larger payment. I made more money later, and I am increasing my payments, but at the time, I believed all I could afford was $50 a month. The ones I was interested in cost $75 to $95 a month and at the time, the 2 Duo Core Processors were not out yet. And I did do the research, but in my city, it's the "you don't need it philosophy" that rules.

i never ever base my purchase on assumption or if its cheap. before i make a purchase i first research about the product and compare price to quality ratio. a cheap quality product is always the best buy

I try to get the best, but my husband was there and I had to get the good cheapest one and one that I could pay off in a year. I have saved about half for the next one.
