Do people refer to you as the "Pastor's wife" or the "Preacher's Wife"? How does that make you feel? It used to bother me a lot when people introduced me as their "Pastor's wife" instead of by my name. It was as if I was a non-person. An extension of him. I always wondered if they actually liked me as a friend or if they just invited me along out of some obligation to the pastor. Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever introduced somewone else as the "Pastor's Wife?" And if so, did you have any idea how that come's across? Do you feel you can be real friends with the wife of the pastor?

Well we are on first name basis with our preacher and her wife, because that is how they wanted it to be. We introduce them as Larry's wife or carolyn's husband just like any other couple we know. I think it is old school to introduce anyone as the pastor's wife or the preacher's wife. That would be like introducing the plumber's wife as the plumber's wife rather than his name. I can see how this would be an insult.
