I am migrating to Australia with my family next month. I have 2 kids. Daughter 8 son 5. My husband is a dentist in profession in my country but he has to be qualified there to practice. We hope to live in Victoria. Can you give me tips how to settle down in there, how to overcome obstacles, settling down kids, etc

I gather from your profile that you're Sri Lankan. There are many Sri Lankan community groups in Australia who can assist. Whether you're Sinhalese, Burgher or Tamil, there'll be one that can help. Your husband should immediately get in contact with the Australian Dental Association for information regarding his qualifications, and any paperwork, etc, involved. Immigration can help to a point, but they aren't experts on the finer points of being qualified to practice in Australia. I live in Sydney, but I grew up in Melbourne, and the only thing you'll really need to adapt to is the drought and Victorian weather, which by Sri Lankan standards can get a bit chilly. It is a multicultural society, we have just about every known culture here. There are fewer obstacles regarding ethnicity here than in most countries. I've had a few Sri Lankan friends, and they've all done well in Australia, and have many Aussie friends. There are also a lot of provisions for settling new kids into schools, community groups, and other activities. These are usually done at school or local community level. Have fun!

Its good that you are migrating to Australia next month with your family. AUstralia is a wonderful country with hospitality. MY husband did his masters in nursing from Australia, he says that Australia is the best and best. Be mentally prepared to be settle down. Do not worry, things happend so easily, only the thing is that you should be mentally prepared, be cool and calm.
