People choose their baby names for a variety of reasons. Many named after a family menber to keep that name going with each generation. I recieved my middle name like that and as much as I hated that name, I gave my odest daughter that same middle name Some people do alot of research before thy choose a name for their child. They check to see what the name means, What the origin of the name is and the various spellings of names. There is this great little site online that will tell you what your name means and the origin of the name. For instance the name anne is listed and there are 10 othet names similar to anne and they all come up too. Anne means full of grace adn its origin is Hebrew To find out what your name means, go to this link and find the large yellow circle that says baby names and type in the name you are looking for. http://pregnancy.parenthood.com/ Hope you have fun finding out about names. my first name Jessica means rich and my middle name Ann was passed down from my great grandma to my grandma to my mom then to me. i know for my son Jason i wanted it to be spelled Jayson, but no one else like my mom sisters and husband liked it spelled that way. i thought it was a unique way to spell it, but oh well. i know my next baby if its a girl will be named Alexis Ann.

Carmen is considered to be a hispanic name but it's actually derived from the Hebrew name "Carmel", after Mount Carmel in the Old Testament. I think it also translates into "garden".
