remember the phrase "a good leader is a good follower".
a leader can't be good at it if he hasn't experienced being a follower. it helps him adjust to the cause by being a good follower because he gets to know how followers feel about their leader.

In not wanting others to tell you what to do, just be careful. You may stumble on somebody who has the same line of thinking as you, and clashes may arise. Good luck to you. May you be able to carry yourself all throughout. Be careful too :)

I find it will depend on the situation whether I will be a leader or follower.I would readily acknowledge someone's level of competancy in a certain field is greater then mine and therefore accept their lead,but I would expect the reverse to be true.It is not a competition between two people as much as something must be done to the best of the abilities of whoever is/are doing it.

I agree. For it doesn't matter who would lead a group, as long as the task is done on or ahead of time without violating the rules.

Your style my friend is that of an undoubtedly good leader. For whenever a person treks on what you have laid, you are assured of it to be an interesting one. Only good leaders could lay and execute plans that others tend to follow.

I always think I would like to be a follower. I don't have to make decisions or take any responsibility that way. Unfortunately, I am a control freak, so that always puts me in the role of being a leader. I don't like to stand around doing nothing if something needs to be done, so I do it. I guess people know that, too, because often I find people looking at me, waiting to see what I will do!

Tongie, this is the perfect answer,it's the one that I was going to post,I firmly believe that to be a good leader, you must be a good follower, and this is from my experience, and the observations I have made of people that I admire,and consider good leaders! I think it is the most essential quality of a leader!

I can be both,what ever task is given.I had been a leader from my elementary grades and up to the present time,that's why I know my capacity and capability of being a leader.I am a good follower too,this is depending on a good leader or commander I should obey.

I love being a leader but its tough.I dont mind being a follower but the person i'm following should be of the right principles and values.If it is so then i'd truly follow.

considering that i am one of the staff of the CEO at my office, handling the main operations (technical operations), that will qualify me i think as a leader and the reason is very obvious and need not be elaborated in my comment.

I was been a good follower ever since I was in elementary days and when I was given the chance to join reserve force of phil. navy I think I develop the ability to become a good leader.
Being a good leader requires you to become a good follower and you knew by heart the things that you are about the task you give to your subordinates and you can carry it out by yourself and the most important thing you looked after for thier welfare.
I can say I'm more on as a leader for in everything I do I put my heart on it and excel on it and made me one who lead others and I can say I excercise both being a leader and at the same time a follower for it doesn't make you a less person if you knew how to follow others too even they are you're subordinate but they suggests a good decision for the betterment of the whole group.

Well... i think that all it takes for one to lead a group is the ability to get the members work as a team.
