How long will Lost last?

How many seasons do you think Lost can and/or will last for? Personally I can't get enough. I both love and hate the way it is written so that just as you finally learning something new, several more mysteries land in your lap. My concern is that I know a few more people who are put off by this fact and have stopped watching. I know its no where near it, but it would be typical of it being axed mid season with no mysteries resolved :)

I really like lost in the beginining but i am getting some what bored with the series. I wish they would answer some questions. They keep saying everything will be answered but I am still waiting on those answers. I am still watching but lately i have found myself wanting to give it up. I don't think it will be on long.

Yeah don't give up yet. I think many mysteries are soon to be solved, but don't be surpised when they add a boat-load more. That is the beauty of the show.

I'm not sure how long it will last but I hope it doesn't get stupid like the X-files did. I just hope they try to end it with dignity because I love the show.

Considering the size of the cast and the cost of production in Hawaii, I'd say a total of about 6 years. Actors are going to want off the show like Mr Eko. Others are going to want more money, etc. You have it exactly right. It's great to love and hate the way the writers have written the show. Don't worry about the show being axed in mid season. Lost still has a large enough fan base. It will run its full course. Here in the states, it has no other competition at the new hour it's on. As far as those impatient people who stopped watching, good riddance. Let them go watch CSI where you get all the answers at the end of every episode. I like the mystery and suspense we get from LOST. ‹(°¿°)›

My info comes via thetailsection.com, my fave Lost spoiler/exclusive site. JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof have planned Lost to go 2 more seasons, but like an above response, ABC is pushing to keep the money rolling in, and don't want to set a finale date. I love Lost, and the pacing is perfect. It's definitely not a show for casual viewers. Think of Lost like a novel. The answers to the burning questions aren't going to be revealed in the first or second third of the book. The point is to get you to finish the book. So, although some minor things may be revealed, the deepest darkest reveals won't come until the very end...and I for one can't wait!!!

That axing thing happened to me with another show I really loved called 'Earth Final Conflict.' Only it happened in a different way. They changed the format of the show for easier consumption. All the loyal fans, including myself stopped watching and although it took some time it became obvious that the show was in trouble. As for me, I too enjoy all the bafflement of LOST. I think it will have a long life as long as they keep the myriad of mysteries going. I would hate to see them change the formant for what might be thought of as greater appeal. I believe we who like the many layers of mystery are in the majority and I only hope they keep us guessing for as long as possible.

I visit a website regularly www.darkufo.blogspot.com and found that they are saying the same thing that I have been hearing elsewhere: the writers are wanting to end it after season 4. ABC is apparantly putting up a fight and wants Lost to continue, after all, this is their money maker; but unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. I personally think it will be much better all around for Lost to end on a good note instead of dragging it out until everyone is sick of it or the writing gets horrible.

I'm not sure how long it's going to last for... and I like it and hate it for the same reasons as you. I haven't been watching it as much lately as I used to. I think once they are going to end the series, they should come up with a spin off called found :P Haha... I have no life. But it would be interesting to see what all these people do when they aren't so lost anymore.

I have been saying for a while now that they are going to have to start to give some secrets up if they want to keep their audience. They have already lost (no pun intended) a hefty amount of viewers due to the ongoing mysteries being unsolved and the very frequent hiatuses. I for one enjoy mystery and have liked many shows that end up canceled with no resolution. I hope they do enough to keep the people watching so they don't get canceled without a proper ending.
