We already knew that smoking is one of the noted things that kill us softly...another one is excessive intake of alcohol...then junk foods is also included in the list.. ok, I knew that since I was in elementary...but what I was pretty surprised with was when I heard over the radio that dough nuts especially the ones with creamy fillings are also killing us softly... the desk jockey (dj) on that radio station even made mention that too much intake of dough nuts of this kind can soon lead us to a heart disease... do you really think so? do you think this is something we need to pay much attention as smoking and alcohol drinking?

Yes. We are becoming more and more aware of the dangers of not only too many calories but the actual content of the food. Many companies are trying to cut the trans fats in their products as well as change other things. If you look at the amount of fat, sugar and calories, plus preservatives in something as simple as a donut you would be amazed. All these things contain stuff that can clog up your arteries and make you gain weight. Once your artieres get too clogged blood flow stops. Sometimes arteries that connect to the heart and lungs get so clogged the organs can fail, bringing on heart surgery etc. I would think that an occasion donut wont hurt if you have an active life style and get enough exercise but it can add up to problems in the long run.

I think it's the sugar. Too much sugar causes all kinds of diseases. For that matter, too much of anything - be it "good" or "bad" is not good too. :P

Their is also a new discovery on MSG monosodium glutamate. They says it kills the brian cells and causes obersity. It is a preservative that causes you to crave whatever it is your eating. I have found this in most of Cambelles soups, some peanits like planters, and other produces. If you want to read some on it got to this like. it is the only one i could find on short notice. http:///www.cbn.com/110755.aspx

I suppose any food could kill you if you ate enough of it becuase you'd overdose on the ingredients if you ate enough of the food, and too much of anything, even certain things that we need to keep us healthy, can be bad! Like if all you did was eat crisps all day, you'd be having far more salt than you need, and it would do you harm.

Yes, foods like donuts are unhealthy. They are full of fats and preservatives and lead to obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. With all foods moderation should be key, limited intake of unhealthy foods.

I agree that junk food is not good when eaten constantly but in moderation I see no problem with it. Even healthy foods eaten to excess can cause problems eventually.

I think having a dough nut every now and then is not as bad. Although if you eat dough nuts everyday you will end up with a heart disease and most likely die. Same goes for hamburgers and take out!

i am a very covetous person and i eat alot of sweets, junk food, and not so light dishes. when i was younger because of liver problems my doctor advised me not to eat very greasy or fried food. and i eat alot of that. lately i've been feeling worse every day, and i still ate it. until i had a rush on my face, and when i told my mom she reminded me what the doctor said. it's been almost a week since i'm eating lighter food and i feel excelent. and i look the same. so yes food is not only killing us it is also makes us look horrible sometimes

i think what was mentioned for the specific dough nut flavor is the one with butter filling ( bavarian ) since it's really high in fats , cholesterol & sugar . in this time we should be very careful of the foods we eat or be very vigilant in our healthiness . we should minimize eating fried foods , processed / preserved ones , those high in sugar & salt 'coz high blood pressure & diabetes always go hand in hand at work in our body ! avoid FASTFOODS as much as you can 'coz they're really FATFOODS !

Yes well there are many things that actually kill us softly, and yes you are right what you are stating here and also coca cola is slowly killing people as well with what it is made out of and the acid in them. Yes I do really think so due to anything we should use or eat them in moderation but the majority of the human race take them too excessively and then this will be the result.

I think that perhaps the disc jockey was using donuts as an illustrative example of the worst kinds of junk foods. When one evaluates foods further than the label of 'junk'...what is the worst for our bodies is transfat and foods that are deepfried. Donuts are deep fried...strike one for them! Many of the icings are mixtures of lard and sugars...with lard being LOADED with transfat. Strike two. Then we look to those that are filled. The ones with creamy filling have yet more lard...strike three! There are plenty of other foods that are just as bad, but I feel the disc jockey or whomever he/she was quoting used the donut as one of the best examples of a bad, bad 'junkfood.'

it seems that there are no safe food to eat these days. hotdogs and candies are also said to be killing us softly. and so are instant noodles and other processed foods. even vegetables and fruits are not as safe as they used to be because of chemical fertilizers used. do we need to make everything we eat like the old times? do we need to grow all the vegetables and fruits in our backyard? not every home has a backyard to do that. these are the disadvanages of modern technology. what else can we eat and be safe?

This isn't a troll or anything, but you know what kills you? Living! I nearly choked on a vitamin yesterday because just as I was taking it I found an article about how vitamins can kill you. For the first 22 years of my life I was told that margarine is healthier than butter then all the sudden I hear the trans fats are going to kill me. It's something like that all the time. People just need to be more reasonable with their intake of food. You don't have to give up everything yummy. If you eat 1 donut every few days as part of a balanced diet, or when you can't get hold of any other breakfast (I honestly believe a donut is better than no breakfast at all because it keeps your metabolism from going wonky from skipping) you'll be fine. If you gorge out on a couple of boxes of donuts a week there's a problem. If everyone would just eat smaller portions and take into consideration what they are consuming we'd all be a lot healthier and happier.

I choos to eat a healthy vegetarian lifestyle because there is so much bad things in the meat and so many bad things in processed foods that I can no longer trust whats in them. Plus a vegetarian lifestyle is much healthier for your body.

I think that many things we eat are dangerous for our health. I try to avoid foods with dyes and preservatives and things like monosodium glutamate, it's very much used in foods, to get a better taste. But I think it will stay in our body forever and it's very dangerous. For sure it cause cancer if it's overused. Try to avoid all snacks with creams, because it's difficult to preserve cream and they use much preservatives in those snacks. Try to avoid all fat food like mayonnaise, because they will shorten your life exposing you to hearth attack. Try to eat more olive oil, it will clean your arteries! Don't eath too much dough nuts..maybe the could lead us to heart disease because they are fat food. Good feeding to all :-)

junk food is something that is killing us slowly and steadily . junk food leads to obesity which is the passport for heart attack . it will destroy us slowly . it is better to go for healthy food which is nutritious and good for the heart also . it is ok to go for junk food sometimes but do not make it a habit .

So many things are killing us by inches, slowly and softly. And both physically and spiritually. But smoking is not the only noted thing that is killing us. What foods and waters do we take? In what air we take our breaths? In what atmosphere we continue to live? Deterioration has reached an alarmimg proportion. Air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, radation pollution, soil pollution and what not? Still people are only more concerned about smoking. Smoking has been made the scapegoat. For nothing why blaimng smoking only?

nowadays if we can see all the all type of fod have a MSG. it also can make a slowly die
