Had an MRI yesterday/ Not terrified anymore but still concerned

Without going into too much detail I had to have a brain MRI yesterday. I've had partial and simple complex seizures for years (not grand mal) and had an abnormal EEG last week. So my neurologist wanted me to have an MRI to rule out a brain tumor or MS. Well, when he said that I went into mild panic mode; it doesn't take much to make me worried and it was nearly impossible for me to eat or sleep this past week. I ended up having the MRI done yesterday and the technician was nice enough to let me know that he didn't see anything like a tumor but that there was an area that looked underdeveloped and could be congentital. My neurologist will look over the results and talk to me either today or tomorrow. My husband happened to be there at my appointment, and he was such great moral support because I was so nervous. But now he can't pass up a joke about the "underdeveloped" part of my brain, lol. I'd sure like to know what that part is; maybe that's why I'm terrible at math. :) Anyway, I'm still not sure if I have a clean bill of health but it sounds more encouraging than it did last week. Has anyone else gone through anything similar? Thanks for listening, I'm still kind of concerned about all this.

Well it does seem to me that at least it wasn't bad news. I"m sure they will figure out exactly what the problem is and will probably be able to fix the seizure part. I had to smile thought about that part where your husband jokes about the underdeveloped side. I really can see mine doing exactly the same thing.. to good to let it pass :) All the best to you

Things like this can be so very nerve wracking. I have my last MRI in July and the only thing I enjoyed about it was teh valium I had to take so I could lie still. It is good that we can do these now, though. It used to be that people were subjected to "exploratory surgery", which is a fancy way of saying"we can't tell what is wrong so we are going to climb around in your guts and see what looks weird". I hope everything turns out ok!

Thanks SageMother, You're right in that the technology is so much better now and they don't have to do so many invasive things as far as tests go. We're also lucky to have an open MRI which is good because I get claustrophic. Take care. :)
