why is 24 different from other soap-opera....

24 is different from other soap-opera not just because its a triller, NO, we have other trailers soapopera out there. 24 stands out in many senses.
first of all the hero JACK BAUER always end up with a tragic end in his personal life (not always). And they are always casualties in the among the main cast crew. For example; Teri, Jack's wife was killed in cold blood in season two. one will think that since she is the hero's wife that would be saved in one way or the other, but, it was not so.
in season three there were over 800 casualties when a small part of the virus was released in a hotel. one will think that the virus will be stoped or prevent from being release at the last minute. But, in 24, things don't always go the way planed by the hero. they are always casualties and that what makes it more exciting.

24 is close to real life. It is also an action adventure. Many people live their lives day in and day out never having any excitement and just stuck in a rut. A show like 24 gets them pumped and excited and they can imagine how the things in the show really could happen.
Or maybe they really are happening. I liked watching JR get shot. I love watching Jack Bauer get shot and watching how he survives.

what i like about 24 is the feeling after watching every end of an episode. you are always compelled to watch the next.

I think what makes 24 different to other is the title itself.
As a viewer you know for sure that 1 season will be finished in 24 episodes.. that missing 1 show will definitely means you miss lot of scenes, and plots which is exactly 4% of the whole series and it is a very big deal specially in such kind of soap.. that combines action, suspense and thiller in one sit...
