In the US, call the National Do Not Call Registry and sign up. Its free and the directions are easy to understand. http://www.donotcall.gob/default.aspx It takes 30 days to get rid of them, but at least they'll be gone!

The Do NOe Call Registery will not stop all the telemarketing calls. There seem to be some telemarketing places that still call. I registered when it first became available. I was so excited. Waited the 30 days and they did stop alot of the calls but not all of them. I have heard many other people say there calls were not stopped also. If your calls are stopped. Good for you.

There's always loopholes in the system, but the website asks if you still receive calls to mark down the number and report it to the Do Not Call website so they can act on it.

We signed up for this back when it first started. It does stop the majority of calls but there are some that still come through. We had one recently from a local telephone company. When I asked them not to call again they spouted off this whole long thing about the Do Not Call Registry. I told them I signed up for this and they came back, well you have to give it 30 days. Once I told them I did it a few years ago they said "oh we'll take you off our list." Sheesh the things we have to go through. It's silly. Did you know they also can now do it to your cell phone? Yeah they did that within the last few months. All cell phone numbers were sent out to the telemarketers. So now you have to get that one registered as well. I know the telemarketers are just doing their job but enough all ready. Calling me at 8 at night or 8 in the morning is rude in my opinion but they are allowed to and now on cell phones. It's just too much.

I added my number to this list and it has helped, at least for now. I still get a few calls occasionally, but they have decreased drastically. I was getting calls all day long from seven or eight in the morning all the way until 8 or 9 at night every day. Now I only get a couple of calls a week at most. It has made a huge difference.

A few will always get thru, but write down their nuumnber from the Caller ID (if you have it) and report it to DoNotCall. They'll do their best to rid you of it. I tell you, the phone has hardly rung except for our friends and family (as it should) since I registered. I am glad I found this!

FYI. Just so ya know.People who do surveys or charities are exempt from the national call regiistry. So the only thing you can do about that is ask to be put on their do not call list.

I have called them several times. It never fails though, I still end up getting calls after a few months. At least it does help for a while. I usually have to call them about 4 times a year.

I signed up for the National Do Not Call Registry a few years ago and I have to admit it really works. I signed it up for the two telephones we have in our house and the telemarking calls were reduced by over 95%. A few get by once in a while, but it's nothing like before. Lloyd
