I have a problem with migraines for the past 5 yrs and they are getting worse. I don't like pills but when not pregnant I would take Exedrine Migraine- and if I took it right when it started it would kick it almost immediately. But I am 32 weeks pregnant. Does anyone have some non pharmaceutical remedies for migraines. I tried the Gatorade trick today- and it worked on the first migraine, but I got two more. I took a nap with the second one, and this one is the worst. Help!!!

I have had migraines since i was a pre-teen and nothing worked then i too discovered excedrin migrained and it worked immediately, but when i was pregnant i obvisouly couldnt take it and the only thing that worked for me was a nap in a dark room and maybe a little nipple of sugar or a few sips of caffine but other than that i had to grin and bare it.

Thanks! Me too. A friend of mine told me if I drank 32 oz of Gatorade- it would replenish my body with the electrolytes it needed. I drank a 20 oz bottle and it cured my migraine. I have cut down on drinking soda and drinking more Gatorade (I cannot drink water). I started having migraines back when I was on the depo vera birth control and drinking diet coke. I no longer use that form of birth control for that and many other reasons, and I quit drinking because of the asparatame. Unfortunately I still get migraines tho.

There are two natural ways to relieve migriane, namely, massage and accupressure. Massage- Gently massaging the face, neck and shoulders can relieve muscle tension in those areas, and hopefully relieve pain. Having someone massage your back, especially around your shoulders and neck, may also help. And some people report that a gentle but firm foot-massage helps. Accupressure-Acupressure is based on the premise that gently massaging certain pressure points on the body provides pain relief. Pressure is applied to these points firmly, but without excess force; acupressure should not cause pain. If it does, stop applying pressure immediately. While the body has many acupressure points, two areas are of importance to headache sufferers.

Forgive me if I am wrong. I am not a migraine sufferer but some people told me some tips on migraine so I thought I want to share it with you. Migraine has many types, that's what they tell me. One type is allergic to sound, the other to lights, some to types of food and drinks. My boss has this migraine and he said if he sleeps in a 100% quiet place with the light 100% off, the migraine will kick off after an hour. Another friend told me that if he avoids drinking coffee the migraine will not attack. I hope this helps. Take care, and maybe you should refer to your doctor for further advice. Thanks.

yeah, I get different kinds of migraines- some are inflicted by not getting enough sleep- which is prob what triggered mine since I was up till 1:30 with reflux (another joy of being pregnant). I drank the gatorade earlier today when I was on a playdate (that I wanted to cancel because of my migraine) and it helped. I napped when my baby napped. Right now I have 5 kids home with me, so I won't be able to find a dark quiet room until they go to bed....soon! Men are able to get more naps than moms I have found. :-( Caffeine is what keeps me functioning. Sometimes I get migraines and then remember I haven't had my caffeine and it kicks it. There is caffeine in Exedrine migraine.
