My husband, kid and I are going to make a 16 hour road trip in a few hours. I'm excited as it's going to be the first time I'm going to be driving on a long road trip to unfamiliar places. I see it as an adventure. I'm excited and nervous at the same time as I'm a relatively new driver. I love seeing the countryside, love quaint little towns, etc. I can't wait! We made the same trip once before but my husband had to drive all the way cos' I didn't have my license yet then. So, this time, it's going to be a little different. My husband is taking a nap now to prepare for the drive and I can't sleep..too excited!! What's your longest road trip? Did you enjoy it?

Well you must be gone by now. Hope you have a safe & happy trip though. I used to drive a truck for a traveling carnival. I had to drive from the U.P. of Michigan to Florida. 21 hours each way. That was easy as I was a kid then. Now days a trip to my daughters (45miles) is hard. Hahaha. Well you got the point. Safe traveling & God speed. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDAPA BOB

Yes! We're in Miami now!! Took us only 13.5 hours. We only made one major stop and a couple of small stops. I'm just amazed how well my little one did during the whole car trip. It wasn't bad at all. The weather was nice and the traffic was good cos' we timed ourselves to miss all the traffic jams :)

I live about 18 hours from "home" now. I've made the journey four times in the last two years. We always do it in two days, though. It's a long boring trip. We're in North Dakota, and no offense to anyone that chooses to live in the Dakotas or Iowa, but there is nothing to see anywhere along I29. There are a few "big" cities like Fargo, Council Bluffs, Sioux Falls and Sioux City, but that's about it. Until you are in Missouri and drive through Kansas City for what feels like three or four hours. It's really not as bad as I make it sound, though. We've been lucky. Our 13 month old has never really minded the trip. We're going home again in June, just him and me. I'm hoping he does well, even though we won't have any of the pets to keep him company. Usually we take both dogs, sometimes the cat. So we do usually have a car full! But it's fun. I wouldn't want to leave them with someone else. I think it will be hard for me to be without them while I'm gone and my husband is taking care of them.

I once drove from New York City to Los Angeles and then from there to Orlando and then back up to NYC. Whew, talk about a sore bum! But you can't beat road trips for all the cool stuff you get to see! Like the Cadillac Graveyard in Texas, I think it's outside Amarillo. I drove by it and was thinking wtf? and looked it up online later.

We drove 16 hours straight once, from Ca to Olympia Washington. I've also driven across the US with my family but we spli that over several days. My 'long run' now is between Dublin Inernational, via Heathrow (london) on to San Francisco. It is hellish!
