I loved my little rats!

I was just reading a post about a cute little squirrel and it was mentioned that they are rodents, like rats. I have to tell you, I had 2 little hooded rats that were just tje sweetest 2 little girls I have ever had the pleasure of calling family. I got Lucy first while away from home on an assignment. I was lonely and decided to get a pet. She was all alone in her little cage, she picked me, not the other way around. As I walked aropund the corner to look at some animals, she reached her little paw out and grasped my hand. I fell in love right there and then! As I was walking out with her, I said, we have some splainin to do Lucy and that is how she got her name. Lucy would chase my dogs up and down the hallway and through the house, crawling all over them and giving kisses. At night when it was time for bed, I felt bad about her being alone in her cage, so that is how Maggie came to live with us. Just 2 sweet little girls full of love and kisses! I miss they way they would ride on my shoulder everywhere I went. I miss how they'd reach out for me as i walked by until I had to give in and let them out to run for awhile. Sadly, not long after we moved from Virginia to Georgia, a brown recluse spider wandered into their cage. Lucy fought him to try and keep him away from Maggie, but by the time I got to her, it was to late, she died in my arms just alittle while later. Maggie tried to hold on, but we just couldn't get the poison flushed from her little body and she died in my husbands arms, she was his baby. I don't think I have ever had more loving pets than Lucy and Little Maggie. Lucy would grab my face in her little paws and just kiss me all over my cheeks. Neither one ever bit anyone, they had no smell and never used the restroom out side of their cage. Awww, I just miss them terribly. And yes, I just sobbed when they died.
