What to do about people with unruly children in line at the checkout.

Actually, the subject line says it all. What do you do when you are stuck in the checkout line in front of someone who has unruly children? I have to say that I am not a huge fan of children. Oh, I don't hate them but I don't want to have any either -- so I didn't. And I don't want to be stepped on banged into and candy smeared in the checkout line either. What do you do when the parents do nothing?

I hate that, especially when the parents do nothing about it. I usually say someting to the child if they are bothering me and the parents are ignoring it. If it's a bunch of wild acting kids and the parents are oblivious, well then I just have to bring it to thier attention...lol I just can't keep my mouth shut sometiimes, but I always make sure I use some amount of tact...lol It's really not the kids fault that their parents haven't taught them how to act in a public place.

What do you say? People tend to get overly upset if you say anything to their children -- even when they need it and the parents aren't doing it!

Oh hell I don't care if they get upset. I wouldn't be saying anything if they hadn't upset me...turn abouts fair play...lol I usually say something like "are you using good manners?" or at Christmas time I said to a little boy "Santa can see you"...he immediately stopped his whining and behaved...hehehe I know it could have backfired if he didn't believe in Santa..but it worked...lol

That's too funny. I'll have to remember that one!
