June is coming and that means scads of weddings and wedding showers! A unique gift idea is to take a two-tiered vegetable basket (not the hanging type, rather the type that sits..ususally made of chrome) and fill with small kitchen items such as a vegetable brush, potato peeler, silicone hot pads (thse are cute rolled up and tied w/ ribbon), garlic press, maybe even some basic spices! Using either the colored celophane from a packing store or colored Handi Wrap, wrap and tie much like an easter basket! You could even do this in wedding colors!

That's a good idea. I've done that for baby showers but never thought of it for weddings. Of course these days alot of people already live together or have their own places so they don't need that stuff as much. I do have a wedding coming up in may though so I may use this idea. Thanks for sharing.

That is a very unique and useful idea for a shower gift. I have a wedding to go to next month and I just may try this out. I sometimes give a laundry basket full of household supplies like soap, paper towels, dish cloths, windex, potholders, and wooden spoons. This is a different twist on the same idea. Thanks for sharing it with us!

That is a cute idea and I'm sure it would be appreciated. I actually enjoy putting things together like that. The only negative that comes to mind is that by the time you gather so many small things and package them together you will have spent at least as much (if not more) as you would have spent to purchase something on the gift registry like some of their china or crystal or some type of small appliance. Since those things are picked by the couple themselves, you know that they are wanted/needed. But I really do think it's a fun idea.
Something I did a few months ago that was similar to this was for my sister in law when she had her first child. I found a list online of things comprising a "New Mom's Survival Kit" and put them all together in a plastic basket for her as a gift. She loved it, and I loved doing it. Even this ended up being expensive, even though many of the items pretty cheap, but it was a lot of fun to do and she really did appreciate it.
Wow, can you tell that money is usually an object for me? I don't mean to put down your fun idea, it's just what came to mind for me when I saw your discussion.

This is so creative and unique. How did you think of that? Thanks for sharing it with everyone. I hope someone will do it, how lovely it would be.

I really like your idea! It is unique and I'm sure you can throw in some non-standard items that the bride and groom do not already have! I do think that when the weddings start rolling around, I will give this a try. Thanks for the thought.

What a wonderful idea. It is almost the time of year for weddings and it is time to plan those gifts. I personally love the homemade gifts best. I will give this idea a try the first chance I get
