You will need to charge the battery, which can be done while using the laptop. The sad part is that laptop batteries have never been very reliable, so I always use a cable with mine.

I was going to say the same thing Asylum... even when brand new, my laptop battery wouldn't give me more than an hour or two at most. Guess you have to fork out a lot of money for one that's willing to last longer lol

It should be charged up to full when it is first time brought to home. The instruction states so. Whatever if you have warranty you can change the battery. Nothing to worry.

you don't say how much you use it for during the day? anyway it really depends on the battery and the discharge rate, if you think it is using too much power, start diabling some of the programs running on the background that you don't use, take as much as possible out of the startup, you will find most stuff there dosn't need to be going unless you are actually using it, only start programs when you need them, also turn your graphics down, such as wallpapers, you will notice a big difference between programs, like graphics programs need heaps of processing power, where playing music needs little, 16bit is heaps, and do you really need the screen saver going?, i never use one, also charge rates and time will depend on the type and size of battery, so see the manufacturers specs in the manual on charge rates, if you are a heavy user, you can allways buy a battery with a larger discharge rate and get more time out of it, or plug the charger in while you use it, i do it all the time and i won't hurt it

If you bought a new laptop, you will find a user's manual along with that. This brochure explains clearly how to start using the laptop, and also how many hours you have to charge the battery initially. You must charge the battery as mentioned by the manufacturer in the brochure. If you follow the instructions to users properly, you will not have any problem in operating the laptop. Good luck.

Check your manual. If your laptop is new, I assume your battery is too. I think you need to charge it for at least 12 or 24 hours before even using! :P So for now, either use your PC and charge the battery (see manual for exactly how long), or take out the battery and use the laptop while connecting it to a power source.

Well my advise, is to leave the laptop off, then charge the battery full. It normally take about 4-5 hours given on the battery size. When it is fully charge then, use it as you would normally. If it continues to do the same, check the manual to see how long the battery should last, if its not corresponding to the times. Take the battery back, for a new one !

my lap too had the same problem dude, I keep it charged always, i usually dont take it out, if u take it, u must charge it every 1-2 hrs(only if u wer using it...,else the charge remains at the maximum). Its wise to charge it alongside when u r using it.

hi most of the time that i'm using my laptop, i charge it along. there's no problem with that you can do that too... on average laptops get drained after two hours so to keep it from draining give power supply.
