Do you keep in contact with friends from an old job?

I had a strange call today--a work friend phoned me around 11 am and we chatted for about 15 minutes. I hadn't spoken to him since December 2005 (a few weeks after we were laid off). It was almost like we had just seen each other yesterday. I haven't really kept in contact with other people I've worked with--too much trouble and all we really had in common was work. The only one that I have kept in contact with is a man that I've fallen in love with as well as develop a strong friendship with (also the same job). Anyone else develop a life-long friendship with a work buddy?

Yes I do and after 27 years I still keep in touch with a friend and my old boss in Germany.

Thank you for BR. My friend in Germany send me a photo of her first granchild last Monday. Then she called (her phone bill LOL) we reminisced about the "old" days for 45 minutes.

I have had some quite good work associates over the years .. but no one I would have made friends of outside of work .. not long before I had to stop working they brought in the idea that we should have social evenings together to make 'better work teams' .. all well and good .. but it was unpaid .. and buy your own drink/snack .. forget that I said, in my own time I will see who I please and go where I please .. so I was 'branded' as a non team player ..
