What time do you eat supper?

All my life, I ate supper at 5 pm, with my parents. I think it was because we were in bed by 7 or 8. But my husband´s family frequently eats at 9 or 10 at night! Is this normal? My hubby thinks I´m nuts because I start cooking so early.

Ya I think its very normal..Even we have our dinner at around 9-9.30.. There is nothing wrong with it..probably its the habit and conditioning that you have got use to...

Are you sure you mean supper and not dinner? I would take dinner at 7-8pm but supper definitely comes later! I seldom take supper though I might be ill-disciplined enough to munch some snacks at 11pm, 2am or even 4am. :P

I didn´t realize that there was a difference between the two! I just figured dinner was a more elegant affair. :)

we usually have dinner also by 7 p.m. since it's the time that everybody in the family got home from work . sometimes if eat early dinner like 6 p.m. we usually end up eating some junk foods by 9 pm while still watching TV . dinner time really depends on the family set-up & habits .

We eat dinner/supper anywhere between 6 and 8pm usually. And what is the difference between supper and dinner? They're both the same thing as far as I'm aware.

I think that it depends a lot on the schedule of the family. I am a college student now, so I eat when I have time. If I have a night class, I'll eat at 5 or so before I go, or I'll wait and eat at 9 when I get home, depending on how hungry I am. If I work a closing shift at work I'll usually at at 6 or so before I go, but some days I don't get home until 8 so I eat then. When I was in high school my family used to eat around 7 or so, because by that time usually everyone in my family was home. I think that any time between 5 and 10 is "normal", it just depends on the family.

It does depend on your bedtime. Probably your hubby's family might have High Tea (a light snack) around 5pm when you are used to having supper by then. When I lived in Egypt it was quite common to have Tea around 430pm and eat supper around 8-9pm if not later!.

It is normal for my family. We eat anywhere from 9-9:30 pm. My husband works overnights so we have our main meal when he gets up for work in the late afternoon - this puts our evening meal quite late at night. This works out well when he is off of work too as he is adjusted to eating his night meal about that same hour.

Because it's VERY important to me that the whole family be at the evening meal, if my son or my partner are working late, we eat when they get home. My SO use to work until 10pm, so we all ate dinner at close to 11. We homeschool, so keeping an unusual schedule worked OK for us. If my kids had been in regular school then, I probably wouldn't have done it that way.

I eat at 5. If I don't make dinner and it was left to the rest of the family, they might decide they didn't need dinner until 7:30 or even later. I like to stick to a routine and I think it's better for the digestion to eat well before going to bed.

growing up, we had dinner at 6:30pm when my father came home. Now with my own family, if my husband works, he is not home until 7:30pm, so we usually eat then or closer to 8pm. If he is off we usually eat around 7pm. My kids are used to this, so that's just when we eat. They eat lunch at scholl around 12:30 then have a snack upon arriving home from school, so no one gets extremely hungry waiting for dinner time.
