My brother called the other night and said he has lung cancer and will be losing a lung. I love him and worry about him, but he has cried wolf so many times that none of us know what to believe anymore. In the last 5 years he has said he had hiv, aids, hepittus (the bad one), just to mention a few. He has had a drug problem in the pst and we all know it so we question the truth in this new revelation. Is there anyway i can verify his statements? He's 44 so i doubt the doctors will tell me anything. If he is truly sick i want to help him, but i don't want to be played either.

Well on the upside I can tell you a little story about a woman I know who really did have lung cancer. This person was easily 300 + pounds, she was 60 plus years old and one of the heaviest smoker I have ever known. She went to Edmonton Canada and had some of her lungs removed. I thought for sure she'd never make it. She had her surgery and lived on until a stroke took her life. I only wish we had doctors like that here right now. I pray for all my myLot friends and you're in my prayers tonight too.

Usually if someone has lung cancer they don't remove a lung they remove the growth but, most of the time it spreads so fast that it goes undetected until it is to late to do surgery. Ask him questions about it do research on the type of cancer he thinks he has find out where it is and such. Then look it up and read about it your self. you can do simple search engine information. My husband thought the same thing the other day so I did some searches so that I knew what to look for on the xrays when we went to the doctor. Thank goodness he didn't have it. In fact his lungs were very healthy for him smoking for so many years. I was surprised to see the xrays. They were clear and did have some cysts growth but, this can be normal since he does smoke. We have a daughter that has Cystic Fibrosis and I have seen alot of xrays and I had one of her physicians to explain to me exactly what they look for and where. They do show you what to look for on some of the searches. Ask him to bring over an xray if he would so that you can look at it. hold it up infront of a bright light. The lung is suppose to be very black, this is a very healthy lung. If you were to see any odd looking masses in the lung then this is what you want to look for. People have general lung markings such as veins, and very small circles(cysts) can be present. You will also see the heart which you are looking for a very sharp defined line on both sides. on the left when looking at the xray you will not see much of the heart line but on the right is where you will see more of the heart line. Calm down and do research and then you will know what to do and think. I found a very good place for lung cancer reasearch go to: http://lung-cancer-guided.com/topics/lung-cancer-xrays.html There are even more places that you can research.

Hmm that really sucks, would be eaiser if you could just say screw him, but of course that's not possible when it's your brother. I hope everything turns out to be OK with him

Ask for the name of his doctor offhand. Ask to go along with him the next time on his next medical visit. If he has cancer, he'll be going often to a doctor, so I doubt he can lie and stall multiple times to stop you if he is indeed lying.
