Has MONEY become a god in our modern society? Do some people actually 'worship' MONEY?

As I can see some people today worshipped already their money. Why? Because, they do not have time anymore worshipping God. They do not even give time even on Sundays to go to their church. Their time was focused only to their businesses or whatever source of income do they have. Not only the church they sacrifice in place of their earnings but also their family. They already forgot these two important part of their life. The bottomline, they are the lossers because their product nor their family ends up to be a mess because they just focus to only one aspect of life, the material thing that they can not even buy love for their family and faith with God.

Yes...I've seen these sad scenarios too, where "love of money" has taken such deep hold that they'll go to any lengths to get more. It's a form of 'addiction', I'm sure. Money has a very powerful attraction to ALL of us; we ALL need some of it to survive in today's world. NOBODY 'needs' the millions and billions amassed by some of the richest, but that doesn't seem to stop them from seeking more and more. And, I agree with you on how the love of money can push out any sense of need for God. That, too, is an 'all-too-common' trade-off in these situations. Thanks for the post & comments.

Matthew 6:24 and Luke 16:13 both say, "No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve both God and mammon." I don't know anyone who "worships" money, but I may know some people who "serve" money. And it is a sad thing.

Ahhh! OK...'serving' money then. Kinda-sorta similar, I think; good observation tho. Guess there can be 'degrees of devotion', as in so many things in life. Thanks for the post.

May people if they have lots of money in their hands someitmes they forgot god. But others if they have some they more worship god, because they know that god gives them everything.

Thanks for the post. Good point! Perhaps they feel they don't NEED God because they can buy whatever they want or need anyway. I can't agree with them on that, but..... Thx again.

To many in this world of greed and worldly possessions, money is the most important thing, so they do worship it.

Thanks for the post. Well.....can't say I agree with you on this, but you're entitled to your opinion. I do agree we all need SOME money, but I see many blatant signs that money is becoming more important than 'human decency'. Example: When large corporations renege on their 'promises' for pensions for loyal, long-term employees. To me, this is 'morally/ethically wrong', but that's just MY opinion. Thx again.
