I like my name, its Rachel. I have never really thought of wanting to be called anything else but Rachel. There are a few different ways you can spell it too - however I do complain when its not spelt right LOL.

I love my real name. It has a unique spelling, and I love watching people trying to pronounce it. I always tell them that it sounds like the normal spelling, it just looks weird. LOL

Growing up, I really did not like my name. No one I knew had it and in a world where everyone cute had names like Jennifer, Laura, Michelle, Kristy, Sheri .. etc. Well, my name just wasn't pretty to me. Back then I couldn't find anything 'girly' with my name on it either which wasn't any fun. I think in all my years of school, I only knew 2 other girls with my name. I felt odd. Now that I'm an adult, I appreciate and cherish the name my parents picked out for me. I've grown to love it and I know there are much worse names I could have been given. (My sister HATES her name and compared to mine, I can't blame her. *hah*) My middle name was very common though so that kinda made up for my first name not being popular. My bestfriend, my sister-n-law, my niece and a handful of friends all had the same middle name. It must have been popular back in the 70's. My last name was horrible to me. It was the name of a famous department store so when someone found out what my last name was, they would always ask the dumb question "Do you own ________"? Uhh 'no' because if I did do you think I'd be wearing non-designer name clothes? I always hated for people to hear my last name. I'm glad when I got married and was able to get rid of it. I feel bad for saying that because I should feel honor connected to my maiden last name and I do now as an adult but when I was a child, it was hard. It's funny because my nephew just got married. He has my maiden last name as his last name. His wife couldn't wait to take his last name and get rid of hers. I can honestly say, her maiden last name was 100% worse than my maiden name was. So I'm glad she has it now as her married last name! So to answer you question - yes, I like my name now.

Dear Diana, why did not you see this discussion of mine earlier???? Now I have selected the 'BR", after that you are putting me into a difficult situation...writing such a meaningful reply. I would say absolutely wonderful reply...the one which I always expect from you. Diana...you have not mentioned what was your last name before marriage...which made you jittery or uncomfortable. I like you name...Diana was the name of a Princess also, (who unfortunately is not alive). Frankly, I like your name very much. B Beautifully...Beautifully written and what a quality response. I really appreciated your sincere efforts. I am afraid I cannot at this change my best response. Otherwise you stand above all....I mean it. deepak

Hate is such a strong term, but i was never really fond of my first name, Anna, just because it is so common especially in my aga group. I think most girls my age are named Anna. My mom said it was because of a TV series that was shown during that time. But now, since college, one of my friends started calling me "Ena", some kind of slang version of my name. LOL! I liked the sound of it so i'm keeping it and now my friends call me ena. ^____^

My name is Malgorzata (polish name) and its like margaret in english I think. I like it, my parents and people in my job call me my first name, but my friends use my nickname. I like it too. It's quite popular name, but I don't mind it.

I love both my names, but I don't use my first name very much. It is an ancient name that my mother really like when she studied History in University. It is unusual and I like it, but most people have a problem pronouncing it so I prefer using my second name which is easier to pronounce. I still get some strange prounounciations though and I am kind of used to it.
