Is Airport security as good as it should be?

Yesterday, a young man 22 years of age boarded an airplane in Orlando, Fla. and upon arrival at San Juan, Puerto Rico he was arrested for having high caliber guns and marijuana in a duffel bag. The man was an airline employee. How did he get pass security checkpoints? As an employee it appears they did not check his bags. How safe are we when we fly?

I prefer to drive. I don't feel safe traveling by plane, train or bus. I have a good friend who is like a sister to me, she is in the military and stationed in England and she has been begging me to go there to visit and I can't. The best I can do is a flight from NY to FL, and this I don't even like doing. I'd rather take my time and drive. There is no way I can sit in a plane no 8-10 hours. I will not go.

Howard I used to be like you but I had to go to Puerto Rico from California every 2 to 3 years to visit my parents and family. I then would take the midnight flight and would fall asleep on the plane because I was so tired. Eventually, I started to like flying. However, that changed since 9/11 now I am a little nervous when I fly.
