Dating agencies - are they really this popular?

There seems to be quite a lot of advertising for 'dating agencies' on the internet. Have you ever used a dating agency, and if so what was your experience like. Did you meet Mr or Mrs Right? I know of one person who met someone in a chat room on the net, got married and were very happy for about 5 years until he left her.

i haven't run into couples who met on the net, but I heard that there are matchmakers or order brides for jaded businessmen on the net. It wasn't much of a date but an arrangement for marriage of convenience. It's so backward and cold, but the brides are a desperate lot hoping to have a better life with their spouses. If given the chance, I may have to do consider it. (smile)
