I agree, moderation is the key, with most things in life. Usually diabetes is hereditary, not always, but in most cases. I too have heard numerous accounts of fat contributiing to the development of diabetes, especially diabetes type 2, which occurs more often in adults over 30.

While the use of sugar can be harmful to one's health by adding calories or for someone with diabetes, it does not cause diabetes as you have stated. More often than not, diabetes is a hereditary disease, caused by the lack of insulin production in the body. Insulin is used to break down sugar in the blood.
